Chopped Pot for Mackey and Schulz

poolshir • Level 18: 3,000-6,000, 500 ante

We got to the table, Michael Holm was sitting on the button with about 50,000 and taking his time considering what he was going to do.

"I'm such a nit," he said while he folded. "I'll tell you later what I had".

James Mackey, in the small blind, raised to 17,000 and Robert Schulz, in the big blind, called.

The flop brought out the {10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}, both players checked.

The turn came out with the {7-Diamonds}, again both players checked.

The river completed the board with the {6-Spades} and again they checked it out.

Mackey turned over his cards to show {A-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and Schulz laughed. He turned over the {A-Hearts}{4-Spades} for a chopped pot.

"I had pocket twos," Holm said. "I should have called, I would have beaten both of you!"

Schulz told him he made the right fold and then asked, "Wait, how much do you actually have?"

"50,000," said Holm.

"Oh, maybe not," Schulz said with a smile.

Weinmann Pushes Kiriopoulos Out of His Way

Jan_Kores • Level 17: 2,500-5,000, 500 ante

Demosthenes Kiriopoulos is leading this six-handed tournament and he's currently playing nearly every pot. He was again in action on the {A-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{4-Spades}{6-Diamonds} turn with more than 100,000 already in the middle.

Kiriopoulos was in the small blind, facing Daniel Weinmann who bet an even 100,000 by moving four green chips forward. Kiripoulos laid his hand down this time, but it was only an occasional event. Kiriopoulos still leads the pack with a million chip mark in sight.

Bojang Gets the Juice from Aces

Jan_Kores • Level 17: 2,500-5,000, 500 ante

There's hardly a better feeling in poker than finding pocket aces in your hand. That's exactly what happened to Ismael Bojang a few moments ago, and the German pro got the max value from the best starting hand.

There were some other figures on the board, but neither of them helped Corey Zedo enough to crack the bullets. His cards were already mucked when the dealer counted Bojang's belongings that were about to double.

Bojang quickly stacked his chips in order, following the "Deutsche Ordnung" stereotype. It was visible that he commenced with 475,000.

Ismael Bojang Straights Out Toby Lewis

poolshir • Level 17: 2,500-5,000, 500 ante

We got to the table, Toby Lewis was sitting on the button and raised to 11,000. Ismael Bojang called.

The flop came {8-Spades}{2-Spades}{3-Diamonds} on which both of them checked.

The turn was the {J-Clubs} where they both checked again.

The river completed the board with the {7-Diamonds}, Bojang opened to 16,000 and Lewis called. Bojang showed the {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} for the rivered straight, Lewis mucked his hand.

Ausmus Wins a Coin Flip with Nines

Jan_Kores • Level 17: 2,500-5,000, 500 ante

Jeremy Ausmus was playing only 16 big blinds and he posted one in the hand that escalated in Ausmus' all in fight against Mikhail Semin, who raise-called from the button.

Jeremy Ausmus: {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}
Mikhail Semin: {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}

Semin couldn't get any piece on the board of {2-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{5-Spades}{2-Hearts}{2-Spades} and his stack suffered a major hit as he had to send Ausmus more than three-quarters of what he had, 81,500 to be precise.

"Why didn't you have ace-jack?" asked Semin partially as a sigh and partially as a joke.

Kiriopoulos Runs into Flack's Sharp Elbows

Jan_Kores • Level 17: 2,500-5,000, 500 ante
Layne Flack
Layne Flack

Six-time WSOP bracelet winner Layne Flack is sitting left to Demosthenes Kiriopoulos. The two went to a raising battle as Kiriopoulos started the war dance, opening the button for 12,000. Flack responded with a three-bet to 32,000 and, when the action returned to Kiripoulos, the action wasn't over yet.

Kiriopoulos put in 82,000 but it didn't scare Flack at all. He took the newly introduced green 25,000 chips to his left hand and made a five-bet worth something like 240,000. That was the final prize as Kiripoulos folded right away.

"What's the score? Seven-to-one?" joked Flack and Kiriopoulos smiled.
