Kiriopoulos Strikes Again; Dusts Pahuja

Jan_Kores • Level 20: 5,000-10,000, 1,000 ante

Vinny Pahuja was all in for only 35,000 and he found his caller in Ilkin Amirov on the button. Demosthenes Kiriopoulos then decided to come along from the big blind.

A dead side pot remained at zero after the flop {7-Clubs}{A-Spades}{2-Diamonds} as both active players checked. Kiriopoulos fired on the {J-Hearts} turn but Amirov didn't want to hang around.

Pahuja briefly showed his queen-high, although it remained unclear which exact cards he had. Pahuja's {Q-}{X-} went into muck before the river was dealt as he couldn't beat Kiriopoulos' {A-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}. The dealer followed the rules and turned over the {10-Spades} but no one paid attention to the board anymore. Pahuja's tally had already come to an end at that point.

Kiriopoulos Hits Jackpot; Eliminates Joseph

Jan_Kores • Level 20: 5,000-10,000, 1,000 ante
Demo Kiriopoulos
Demo Kiriopoulos

Jeremy Joseph min-raised and the price for 20,000 seemed reasonable for Ilkin Amirov, Daniel Weinman and Demosthenes Kiriopoulos, who all made up for a four-way pot.

The flop fell {10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} and action checked to the original raiser. Joseph pushed all in, causing a fold from Amirov and a request for a count from Weinman. It was 199,000, which was too much for Weinman.

But when Weinman released his cards, Kiriopoulos instantly threw in one chip, signalling a call. Kiriopoulos turned over {9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} for a flopped nuts. Joseph was drawing very thin with just {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs}.

Joseph's chances increased when the {8-Clubs} hit the turn, which was one of the best possible cards to keep his hopes alive. He could still dream about a runner-runner boat or flush, but the {6-Spades} disappointed him.

Kiriopoulos added another victim to his list and regained the chip lead, surpassing James Mackey in the leader board.

Richards Flops Good; Turns Bad

Jan_Kores • Level 19: 4,000-8,000, 1,000 ante

John Richards jammed roughly 95,000 from the small blind over Royce Matheson's raise. Big blind Shivanraif Abdine cold-called and Matheson let his two opponents battle one-on-one.

Josh Richards: {Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Shivanraif Abdine: {A-Spades}{J-Spades}

Richards liked the {9-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{10-Spades} flop but when he saw the {J-Hearts} land on the turn, he sighed: "Not that one." He still had a solid chance to win the pot, hitting any eight or king in addition to queens and tens. None has emerged on the river, however, as the {5-Diamonds} completed the board to eliminate Richards.

Flack Forced to Fold

[user270022] • Level 19: 4,000-8,000, 1,000 ante

Six-time WSOP bracelet winner Layne Flack has been chipping up for the majority of the day. Flack just gave some to Matt Stout though.

On a {q-Spades}{8-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} board, a pot of about 260,000 sat between them. Stout fired a bet of 145,000 and Flack thought for a few moments before giving up.

Fast Doubles Through Andriamahefa

Jan_Kores • Level 19: 4,000-8,000, 1,000 ante

German player Dietrich Fast raised from under the gun, making it 18,000. Small blind Kevin Andriamahefa woke up with a re-raise to 50,000. Fast paused for a bit and then declared all in. Andriamahefa called.

Dietrich Fast: {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}
Kevin Andriamahefa: {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}

Fast's Cowboys were in good shape even after the {Q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} flop.

The turn, however, brought an interesting sweat as the {10-Clubs} improved Fast's hand into a straight but at the same time gave Andriamahefa a flush draw.

The river card {3-Diamonds} was the brick-est of the bricks, though. Fast could celebrate his important double.

New Leader; Mackey gets the Best of Berkey, Again

[user270022] • Level 19: 4,000-8,000, 1,000 ante
James Mackey (From an earlier event)
James Mackey (From an earlier event)

We heard the "All-in. Call," from across the room and arrived to see a monster pot brewing between Matt Berkey and James Mackey. The two had tangled previously this evening with Mackey stinging Berkey for a double up.

This time, the board read {8-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{4-Hearts} with Berkey holding {q-}{j-} and Mackey having {9-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. Berkey had Mackey covered, and was forced to pay Mackey's 372,000 stack when the river came a {q-Hearts}, giving Mackey a straight and the chip lead.

Ausmus Falls to Cynn

John Cynn
John Cynn

"Payout," was heard across the room as Jeremy Ausmus stood up from the table. Ausmus has been at risk by John Cynn. Ausmus had moved all-in with {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and Cynn had tabled {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}.

We don't know how the action went down but there was an ace on the board and we know that Cynn backdoored a four-card flush.

Ausmus leaves with $8,187 for his 37th place finish.
