Easy Come, Easy Go

MikePatrick • Level 19: 6,000-12,000, 12,000 ante

With blinds now at 6,000 and 12,000, pots are getting huge and a once huge stack can quickly go south.

Case in point, Ali Darroudi, who not long ago was challenging for the chip lead is now among the shorter stacks in the room after losing a pot to Frankie Muzzio.

On a {7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} flop, Darroudi check-raised Muzzio's 32,000 chip bet to 85,000, which Muzzio called.

Darroudi continued the pressure on the {3-Clubs} turn with a bet of 50,000 that Muzzio again called.

Darroudi fired once more on the river {8-Clubs} for 66,000, which represented about a quarter of Muzzio's remaining stack.

Muzzio called, and Darroudi reluctantly showed {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}, which was second-best to Muzzio's {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}.

Muzzio is now the player well over 500,000 while Darroudi will have to quickly rebuild if he is to survive to day 2.

Ferraro Rising

LiamGannon • Level 19: 6,000-12,000, 12,000 ante

With two players all in in front of him, Cole Ferraro went all in for his whole stack in the small blind. The big blind thought about it for a bit and folded, saying he had two jacks.

Early Position Player: {k-Clubs}{10-Hearts}
Middle Position Player: {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Cole Ferraro: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}

The board ran out {6-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and Ferraro's flopped set was good enough for him to win, bust two players, and climb among the tournament chip leaders.

McFayden Wins A Four-Bet Pot

LiamGannon • Level 18: 5,000-10,000, 10,000 ante

An early position player went all in for 18,000, Justin Saliba three-bet to 35,000 and was called by a middle position player. In the cutoff, Neil Mcfayden four-bet to 90,000 and Saliba and the other player folded, giving Mcfayden a side pot.

Early Position Player: {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Neil Mcfayden: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}

The board ran out {5-Spades}{2-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} and Mcfayden scooped the pot. The middle position player shook his head saying he had {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and had folded pre-flop.

The tournament clock now shows just 100 players remaining in the field with slightly over three levels left to play in the night.

Hawkins Asks For Aces

Chip leader Maurice Hawkins asked the dealer for two red aces before a recent hand so he could stack another player.

Whatever the dealer gave him, it was worth raising to 25,000. The only call Hawkins got was from the big blind who left himself only 35,000 behind.

On the {k-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop, the big blind checked to Hawkins who announced "all-in".

The big blind opted to preserve his last 3 1/2 big blinds and folded, and while Hawkins did not receive the red aces he asked for, he did flash the {k-Clubs} for top pair.

Van Driessche with the Flush

Leo_Contreras • Level 18: 5,000-10,000, 10,000 ante

Clement Van Driessche shoved all-in for his remaining 117,000 in chips and a player in the big blind made the call putting him at risk for his tournament life.

Clement Van Driessche: {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Big Blind Player: {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}

The board of {k-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} was just what Van Driessche needed to give him a flush and a nice double up.

Stoyanov Stacks "Local Pro"

MikePatrick • Level 18: 5,000-10,000, 10,000 ante

An exuberant short-stacked player who referred to himself as "a local pro" pushed all-in from the cutoff for his last 69,000 chips and got calls from both Radoslav Stoyanov on the button and a player in the big blind.

Stoyanov and the big blind checked down a board of {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and the local pro excitedly declared "chop it up" as he turned up his {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}.

Unfortunately for him, Stoyanov showed {k-Clubs}{k-Spades} to lay claim to the pot.
