Event #46: $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em / Six Handed Championship

Shamus • Level 10: 500-1,000, 100 ante

Chris Oliver is enjoying himself here as we cross the halfway mark of Level 10. He's ordered a couple of drinks thus far, and having received another shot offered it to Doc Sands.

"Random shot?" asked Ben Lamb of Sands from Oliver's table. "When Chris Oliver offers you a shot, you don't say no," came the reply.

Oliver had another offer for Sands. "Want to go to the strip club?" he asked. Sands shook his head no. "I've got a girl at home," he explained.

"Oh, I don't go for the girls," clarified Oliver. "I just like throwing money in the air!"

Heck, he could do that over here, too.

In addition to his drink, Oliver is nursing an above average stack of over 100,000 at present.

Lindgren's Kings Score KO

Shamus • Level 10: 500-1,000, 100 ante
Erick Lindgren
Erick Lindgren

Erick Lindgren opened with a raise to 2,400 from the cutoff and the player on the button reraised all in for 17,700 total. The blinds got out, and Lindgren quickly called.

Lindgren tabled {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts} and his opponent {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}. The flop came {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}, giving Lindgren a set. The {2-Spades} on the turn made the river meaningless, but no less painful for E-dog's opponent -- the {4-Clubs}.

One more gone. And Lindgren now at 52,000.

Benefield Makes the Right Call

On a board reading {5-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{6-Spades}, Chris Moorman checked to his opponent on the button, who just so happened to be David Benefield. After a moment's pause, Benefield bet 7,600, which Moorman called. The {7-Clubs} made its appearance on the river, which Moorman decided to bet to the tune of 17,200.

Benefield stared down his opponent for a solid minute before making the call. Moorman seemed disappointed when he uttered, "Ace high," which wasn't good against the {Q-Spades}{10-Clubs} of Benefield.

Dolan Down

Shamus • Level 10: 500-1,000, 100 ante

Before the end of Level 9, 2010 November Niner John Dolan was eliminated in a remarkable hand versus Nick Maimone.

The hand began with Dolan opening for 2,000 and getting one caller in Maimone on the button. The flop came {A-Clubs}{6-Spades}{7-Spades}, and Dolan continued with a bet of 3,400. Maimone called. The turn was the {J-Clubs}, prompting another bet from Dolan, this time for 6,800. Maimone called again.

The river was the {5-Spades}. Dolan was firing once again with a bet of 15,100, and this time Maimone shoved all in for about 50,000. Dolan called with the rest of his chips, showing {Q-Spades}{9-Spades} for a queen-high flush. But Maimone had {8-Spades}{4-Spades} for a better straight flush, and Dolan hit the rail.

Maimone has about 155,000 now at the start of Level 10.

Maximum Value

A player in the cutoff raised to 2,000 only to have Steve Gross raise to 5,700 from the small blind. The cutoff refused to back down and reraised to 15,000, which Gross called. Both players proceeded to check the {A-Spades}{2-Clubs}{5-Hearts} flop, as well as the {8-Hearts} turn. When the {J-Diamonds} appeared on the river, Gross moved all in for 40,100 and the cutoff called.

Gross showed {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} and it was good enough for the double.

210 Remain

Shamus • Level 10: 500-1,000, 100 ante

We've moved into the last one-hour level of the night. There are currently 210 players remaining.

"Serious Leveling"

With 34,000 in the pot and a flop of {2-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{4-Hearts}, Kevin Saul bet 8,800 from the big blind and was called by Guiseppe Pantaleo on the button. When the dealer burned and turned the {2-Hearts}, Saul checked, Pantaleo bet 13,900, and Saul tanked for a long, long time before check-raising all in.

"Serious leveling," Lindgren observed away from the table. "Tenminute pot already." Guiseppe quickly folded.
