Devilfish Curses, Doubles Up Harmetz

David "Devilfish" Ulliot raised to 20,000 from the button, and Daniel Harmetz reraised from the small blind. When Chau Giang folded his big, Uliott said, "You're out? Then I'm all in." Harmetz committed the rest of his own chips, and the cards were turned up with him at risk:

Ulliott: {A-Clubs} {A-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds}
Harmetz: {A-Spades} {K-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {J-Spades}

There was a jack in the door, and Devilfish said, "No. F***!" as the flop rolled out {10-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {J-Hearts}. The turn {Q-Diamonds} was a disaster as it gave Harmetz the unbeatable Broadway straight and cued a string of carefully crafted expletives from Devilfish. The river {6-Hearts} was a mere formality, and Harmetz was awarded an extra 146,000 chips to bolster his stack. He's got double that now, while Devilfish sinks back under 100,000.

Sweet Flop For Wheat

On a flop of {A-Spades}{6-Spades}{8-Hearts}, Matthew Wheat and David Ulliott checked it over to Damon Kaufman who moved all in for his last 48,000. Wheat made the call as Ulliott got out of the way.

Wheat: {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Kaufman: {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}

Wheat flopped a set as Kaufman would need help, but it didn't arrive on the {Q-Diamonds} turn and {9-Diamonds} river. Kaufman heads home as Wheat is now up to 253,000.

Hellmuth Doubles Through Akenhead

Phil Hellmuth limped in from the cutoff, James Akenhead completed from the small blind before Julio Marines raised it to 33,000 in the big blind. Both Hellmuth and Akenhead made the call to see a flop of {Q-Hearts}{7-Spades}{3-Hearts}.

Action checked around and the {9-Diamonds} hit the turn. Akenhead fired out a bet of 130,000 forcing a fold from Marines but Hellmuth responded by moving all in. Akenhead made the pot-committed call.

Hellmuth: {Q-Spades}{9-Spades}{K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}
Akenhead: {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}

Akenhead was left with just a straight draw as Hellmuth showed a superior flush draw to go with his straight draw and two pair. The river was the {10-Diamonds} and Hellmuth made his straight to double up to 430,000 with Akenhead down to just 65,000.

Minus One Boatman

Barney Boatman
Barney Boatman

The Brothers Boatman were just broken onto the same table, but the partnership didn't last long.

Under the gun, Tom Dwan made it 13,000 to go, and Barny Boatman called from the small blind. The two of them took a flop of {9-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {J-Clubs}, and both of them checked very slowly and deliberately.

The turn {8-Spades} landed on the board, and Boatman slowly checked again. Dwan carefully stacked out 19,000 chips and placed them delicately into the pot. In a sudden quickening of the action, Boatman practically beat him into the pot with an all-in shove for about 40,000 total, and the call from Dwan came just as instantly to put Boatman in danger. And he was behind:

Dwan: {A-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {10-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} (nut straight)
Boatman: {A-Spades} {9-Hearts} {7-Spades} {3-Clubs} (flush draw)

The river was the {5-Clubs}, and that was the wrong shade of black for Mr. Boatman. Unable to improve on his last chance, he's made his exit here late in the night.

Dwan has increased his chip lead over this field, and he has his table cowering to his 590,000-chip stack.

[Removed:327] Takes Care of Bichon

Thomas Bichon

James Akenhead made it 12,000 to go from middle position, and he found calls from [Removed:326] (cutoff), Thomas Bichon (button), and Jason Lester (big blind).

The four men took a flop of {10-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {3-Clubs}, and Lester and Akenhead checked. [Removed:327] bet 40,000 before Bichon moved all in for 173,000 total. That folded the two monkeys in the middle, but [Removed:327] made the call to put Bichon to the test.

[Removed:327]: {A-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {8-Clubs}
Bichon: {K-Clubs} {K-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {6-Hearts}

Bichon's flush draw was no good, but he was still in front with his pair of kings.

Turn: {A-Clubs}

Bichon was not so much in front anymore, and [Removed:327] had his man one card from elimination. When the {7-Hearts} landed on the river, Bichon tucked his chair under the table and headed out of the room.

[Removed:327] is up to 455,000.

Aces? Boom!

Eli Elezra and Tom Dwan tangled in a pot on a flop of {9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}. Elezra bet out full pot but Dwan got out of the way.

"I'm done trying to set you up," said Elezra as he showed {A-}{A-}{J-}{10-} for aces with an open-ended straight draw. "I'm going to play like the mobsters...Aces? Boom!"

Elezra is at 265,000 with Dwan at 540,000.

Hanlon Halted

Stephen Ladowsky raised from middle position to 14,000 with Noah Schwartz making the call before Tom Hanlon moved all in from the big blind for 42,000. Ladowsky moved all in over the top 135,000 but that didn't stop Schwartz from making the call as a huge three-way pot developed.

Hanlon: {k-Clubs}{K-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
Ladowsky: {Q-Clubs}{J-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}
Schwartz: {9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}

The board fell {4-Spades}{5-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{A-Spades} to give Ladowsky a flush to take down the pot and eliminate Handlon. Ladowsky is at 160,000 with Schwartz down to 105,000.
