El Khoury Doubles Up (Again)

Joseph El Khoury had fired 130,000 on the flop of {8-Spades}{6-Hearts}{7-Hearts} against Victor Paraschiv - but when the former moved all in on the {9-Hearts} turn, Paraschiv was clearly stuck with a difficult decision.

After about three minutes he made the call but he did not like what he saw.

Paraschiv: {K-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
El Khoury: {Q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

Paraschiv was drawing to three outs for a chop, the {4-Diamonds} not one of them and El Khoury, who has had this habit of doubling up then losing his stack, continues this cycle.

Kiryl Radzivonau Eliminated In 6th Place ($52,590)

Kiryl Radzivonau

Kiryl Radzivonau has become the first person to be eliminated from the final table of the WPT Merit Cyprus Classic Main Event after a clash with Marvin Rettenmaier.

Radzivonau had pushed all-in once already during the last orbit when the action folded to him in the small blind and on that occasion Rettenmaier pondered a call but folded. but when the action passed to Radzivonau for a second time and he moved in again (for 400,000) Rettenmaier made the call.

Radzivonau: {J-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Rettenmaier: {Q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

The first card out was the {10-Diamonds} to which Rettenmaier said, "nice start," but Rettenmaier's start was even better because the rest of the flop read {3-Hearts}{q-Hearts}, gifting him a set of queens.

The {6-Clubs} on the turn locked up the hand for Rettenmaier and his quest to become the first-ever back-to-back WPT champion is still on.

Paraschiv Doubles Through Radzivonau

Victor Paraschiv moved all in for his last 730,000 preflop UTG and Kiryl Radzivonau reshoved from UTG+1/hijack. Everyone else folded as we had our first all in preflop piece of action.

Paraschiv: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Radzivonau: {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}

The board came {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and Paraschiv flopped a set but Radzivonau picked up a flush draw. The turn was the {6-Hearts} which changed nothing, both players sweating the river but it was the {Q-Clubs} and Paraschiv celebrated with a fist pump.

Voskanyan And Azor Split Pot

Artur Voskanyan raised to 150,000 in the small blind and Ran Azor calls in the big. The pair check the action through to the turn on a board of {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{10-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and Azor called a 175,000 bet from Voskanyan. The river was the {q-Clubs}, Voskanyan bet 300, Azor raised to 800,000 and Voskanyan moved all-in. Azor called. As expected both players split the pot with Azor holding {a-Spades}{j-Clubs} and Voskanyan holding {k-Hearts}{j-Spades}.

Rettenmaier's Straight Stays Good

Joseph El Khoury opened to 100,000 and Marvin Rettenmaier defended in the big blind. Both players checked a wet flop of {J-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{10-Spades} before Rettenmaier led for 155,000 on the {9-Hearts} turn.

El Khoury, who can be hard to push off a hand, made the call to see the {5-Hearts} river. Rettenmaier thought for a minute and checked and El Khoury quickly checked behind.

The German showed {Q-Spades}{8-Spades} for the turned straight and it was enough to beat El Khoury, the latter is starting to get short again.

Azor Stays Ahead

Marvin Rettenmaier raised to 105,000 preflop and Ran Azor, who does not give up his big blind, made the call.

Azor check-called a bet of 110,000 on the {Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} flop before the {6-Diamonds} went check-check on the turn. The {4-Spades} saw Azor now lead for 260,000 and the German folded.
