PokerStars WCOOP 2021

The 2021 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) roared ahead on Sunday at PokerStars with the WCOOP 63-H: $10,300 Progressive KO High Roller attracting 123 entries for a $1.23 million prize pool to smash to $1 million guarantee by 23 percent.

After nearly eight hours of play, the action was down to just nine final table hopefuls who will resume action on Monday, Sept. 6 at 5:05 p.m. GMT.

Germany's Christian "WATnlos" Rudolph is in prime position for his third WCOOP title with his second one coming earlier this festival when he shipped the WCOOP 24-H: $2,100 NLHE 6-Max for $71,404 last weekend as he will advance to the final table as the chip leader.

Talal "raidalot" Shakerchi was the chip leader near the end of the day but Rudolph roared ahead by first eliminating Rui "RuiNF" Ferreira in 13th place before ousting both Patrick "pads1161" Leonard and Simon "C. Darwin2" Mattsson on the final hand of the day when his ace-ten got there against kings and queen-ten.

The final table is a star-studded affair and Rudolph will have his work cut out for him to earn his second WCOOP title this year. Other big names at the final table in addition to Rudolph and Shakerchi include Sam "Str8$$$Homey" Greenwood, Patrick "thebigdog09" Brooks, Bruno "great dant" Volkmann, Adrian "Amadi_017" Mateos, Wiktor "Iimitless" Malinowski, and Alexandros "Pwndidi" Theologis.

The final table of nine players will resume their battle on Monday, Sept. 6 at 5:05 p.m. GMT. The blinds will resume with the remainder of Level 21 (25,000/50,000/6,250a) and increase every 25 minutes until a winner is crowned.

Just like that the final table is set after Christian "WATnlos" Rudolph eliminated two players on the final hand of Day 1.

Patrick "pads1161" Leonard jammed for 334,007 from the button. Simon "C. Darwin2" Mattsson three-bet shoved for 2,013,086 from the small blind and Rudolph called them both from the big blind.

Rudolph flopped top pair and never looked back on the board to eliminate both Leonard and Mattsson. Rudolph will enter tomorrow's final table with the chip lead and has already amassed a tournament-high $42,188 in bounties.

Marius "DEX888" Gierse opened for 105,000 from under the gun and was called by "hello_totti" from the small blind and Sam "Str8$$$Homey" Greenwood from the big blind.

Gierse c-bet for 87,750. Greenwood raised to 298,350. "hello_totti" folded and Gierse called. Greenwood checked the turn and Gierse jammed for 681,150. Greenwood called and the cards were turned over.

The river gave Gierse a pair but it also completed a flush for Greenwood. Gierse collected the 12th place prize of $14,185 along with $5,000 in bounties and the action was hand-for-hand with 11 players remaining and nine advancing to tomorrow's final table.

Ferreira was ahead but Rudolph improved to two pair on the board to eliminate Ferreira in 13th place for $16,240 including $5,000 in bounties.
