Benjamin Schroder raised from middle position to 7,000, picking up no fewer than three callers, before Pavel Stolao put in the 3-bet to 35,000 from the small blind. Schroder folded, with Laurent Manderlier calling behind him, as he and Stolao went heads-up to a {3-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Spades} flop.

Stolao quickly put in a 40,000 continuation bet, which Manderlier was having none of, as he raised to 100,000. Stolao wasted no time calling the raise and the pair took a {9-Clubs} turn. Stolao checked it over to Manderlier, who this time reached for 180,000 chips. After a long dwell, Stolao put the call in before the {5-Diamonds} came down on the river.

Stolao counted out his stack and thought long and hard, before checking it over to Manderlier a second time. Manderlier confidently picked up his stack of blue 100,000-value chips, which easily had Stolao covered, and dropped them over the line. Stolao flirted with the idea of calling, before eventually folding, showing {a-Spades}{a-Hearts} face up. Manderlier was very happy to show the bluff and revealed his {k-Clubs}{8-Clubs} as he dragged in a nice pot.

chiKKita banAAna Peels

Yardley • Level 1: 1,500-3,000, 3,000 ante

chiKKita banAAna has brought a good stack through from a Phase 1 with nearly a million chips. He is resplendent in his sponsored yellow sports top and is a fun character to have on the tables. There is bound to be a lot of laughter on his table as long as he has enough chips and he just grabbed a few more.

banAAna opened for 8,500 and got calls from the player in the cut-off and the big blind. The flop was {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}{q-Hearts} with banAAna joking he hoped his opponent didn’t have a queen and out flopped his pocket tens.

All three players checked and the turn was the {a-Diamonds} where banAAna bet 25,000 and took the pot. He then offered a $1,000 bet that he had tens and when that was turned down he showed his {a-Clubs} with a cackle.

Button Ante

Yardley • Level 1: 1,500-3,000, 3,000 ante

All events at the German Poker Championships are using the system where the player on the button pays the antes for the other players. It will take a little bit of getting used to and of course there has been debate amongst players and commentators over the pros and cons of the system. The button ante was used in the High Roller yesterday with little problem.
