Day 1 is over

[user22113]
And we have no way of telling you who is in, who is out and who is stacked. Media are off limits from this point on so check in with us tommorow when we will have complete chip counts for all our survivors.

Wrapping up

[user22113]
5 minutes to go and we have all been booted out of the main cardroom, so not much more in the way of blogging is likely to happen until we resume tommorow.

We are down to about 250 players, today has certainly not been for the faint hearted. Sick, sick action.

Gourley up to 95K

[user22113]
Paul Gourley has just took down a huge pot when his {A-Hearts}{A-Spades} went up against {J-Hearts}{J-Spades} and {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}.

The board came {2-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{4-Spades}{7-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}

A very happy Gourley is going into day 2 with a monster stack.

Benyamine Crippled in all action flop

[user22113]
I got to the most crowded table of the night just as all the money went in the middle of the pot for a 80k pot.

The flop is {J-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{K-Diamonds}

Benyamine has {J-Clubs}{J-Spades}

Guy 1 has 26k invested with {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}

Guy 2 has 33k invested with {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}, with the royal/nut flush draw

{2-Clubs} and a {3-Spades} means Guy 2 is gone, Guy 1 is rich and Benyamine is down to 13k.

No idea who the other two gents in the hand were as the crowd was moved along quickly because we were causing a fire hazard.

Marty takes a hit

[user22113]
Marty Wilson loses a monster pot, Marty raises 5,000 pre flop and is called by the big blind. Flop comes {A-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} marty checks and calls a bet of 5,000, the {Q-Spades} comes on the turn and Marty bets 5,000 which is smooth called by his opponent. The {6-Clubs} arrives on the river Marty bets 9,500 and his opponent calls and tables {A-Spades} {q-Hearts} to Marty's {j-Spades} {j-Hearts}.

De Chip Leader

[user22113]
Roland De Wolfe has just bust two short stacks in a hand where he was a real underdog in terms of cards, but had complete impunity in terms of chips.

Short stack goes all in for 4725

De Wolfe calls on the button

Reluctant small blind comes over the top for the rest of his remaining 8000

De Wolfe has to call, he has {A-Clubs}{3-Spades}

original short stack has {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}

Small blind has {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}

{3-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{6-Spades}

De Wolfe is plenty past 90K

Short break over

[user22113]
It may look like a fire drill or a queue for a nightclub, but this assembled mass is actually the short cigarette break of some 300 players. Nasty habit.

Because of the fast action today we are due to finish at 2 today, we were scheduled to end at 4, but with only 300 players left we would probably have our final table in the morning.

Good news for us, we can either go to bed, go for a drink or find a cash game. All three appeal, as long as we dont combine any of them.
