Day 2 of the 2021 Goliath Online started with 282 players sharing the common goal of making it through to Day 3. Only 11 of those returnees managed to achieve that task, and nobody has more chips than "CMR16" who bagged up 11,735,848 chips at the close of play.

A solid turnout of 399 players in the turbo-structured Day 1E ensured the prize pool exceeded the £250,000 guarantee. A total attendance of 2,723 meant a £272,300 prize pool, and a £54,460 top prize.

"Bertiepup" burst the money bubble when they crashed out in 217th place. Their exit locked up at least a min-cash for the remaining 216 players. Several big names and Grosvenor Poker regulars saw a return on their £110 investment. They included Ben Dobson, Richard Kellett, Guy Taylor, Paul Vas Nunes, Euan McNicholas, and Team Grosvenor duo Katie Swift and Rick Trigg.

Unibet Poker Ambassador Ian Simpson was flying high for much of the penultimate day's action, but ultimately had to make do with a 14th place worth £2,178.

"whaleready296" busted in 12th place right at the death, leaving only 11 players in the hunt for the title.

Day 3 Commences at 8:00 p.m. BST on August 31

The final day's action shuffles up and deals at 8:00 p.m. BST on August 31 under the watchful eyes of the PokerNews Live Reporting team. CMR16 (11,735,848) and "Whytestar" (10,392,641) are the only players returning with eight-figure stacks.

The average stack at the resumption of play is 6,188,636, and only four players have more than that amount, which could make for some quick early eliminations. Players will continue the rest of Level 14, meaning blinds are 80,000/160,000/16,000a, before moving into 100,000/200,000/20,000a.

Whytestar Busts Adderley

YorkshirePud • Level 13: 60,000-120,000, 12,000 ante

John Adderley's impressive run is over after he busted at the hands of "Whytestar."

Adderley pushed all-in for a shade under two million chips when first to act in late position. Whytestar called from small blind with {a-Hearts}{q-Spades} and was ahead of Adderley's {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}. Both players paired their ace on the river of the {6-Spades}{j-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{q-Hearts} board, but Whytestar had an ace-kicker so won the pot.

tripsfast21 Bows Out

YorkshirePud • Level 13: 60,000-120,000, 12,000 ante

You have to win your coinflips if you want to win tournaments. That did not happen for tripsfast21, which is when they are on the sidelines right now.

tripsfast21 raised alll-in for approximately 13 big blinds with {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}, and LateNightTales looked them up with {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}. The race lasted as long as the {j-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{9-Clubs} flop, and ended with the {10-Hearts} turn and {3-Hearts} river.

peachyibana is no more after losing a coinflip to Chipeater. The hand started with Chipleater limping in for 120,000 from middle position before calling peachyibana's 669,334 shove. peachyibana flipped over {q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} which was flipping against Chipeater's {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}.
