10 hours of poker action saw a field of 95 players whittled down to just 13 during Day 2 of the GUKPT Luton Main Event.

Tom Hall, a former GUKPT Main Event runner-up, leads the way with 1,273,000, ahead of Trevor Reardon (1,171,000) and Timothy Chung (809,000).

Hall saw his stack propel to the top of the counts in one of the final hands of the day as his pocket kings were able to defeat the pocket aces of Mitchell Hyman after they had got all their chips into the middle preflop.

Charles Akadiri, Matthew Davenport, Alexandru Papazian and Tamer Kamel are among the players also returning, as is the start-of-day chipleader, Aaron Khera.

Recap of the Day's Action

Early departures included defending champion David Docherty, Mitchell Johnson, Alexios Zervos, Alex Goulder, Ryan Mandara, Lee French, recent GUKPT Coventry champion Joe Hindry and Team Grosvenor’s Richard Trigg.

James Rann, who finished as runner-up in the GUKPT Luton High Roller earlier this week, saw his Main Event run end against Alexandre Gomes after Rann hit a set on the flop, only for Gomes to river a straight.

With 34 places paid, the bubble lasted around 45 minutes until three-time GUKPT Main Event champion Benjamin Winsor was the unfortunate final player to miss out on a cash prize. Winsor three-bet all in from the small blind for around 20 big blinds with ace-king and was called by an opponent holding pocket jacks.

There was no joy on the board for Winsor, who, despite being the GUKPT Main Event all-time money list leader, was unable to find a spot in the money this weekend in Luton.

The remaining players will return Sunday at noon to continue their quest for the £100,850 top prize. Stay tuned to PokerNews for live updates of all the action.
