After taking most of his chips in an earlier hand, Martin Jacobson put the finishing touches on Luca Pagano.

The action folded to the Italian PokerStars Team Pro, who moved all in for his last 200,000 in the small blind. Jacobson snapped it off from the big, and the hands were opened.

Showdown
Pagano: {5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}
Jacobson: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

The board ran {8-Clubs}{3-Spades}{10-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}, and Pagano was eliminated from the tournament.

Today's Bad Idea: Playing Pots Against Faraz Jaka

[user66118]
Faraz Jaka
Faraz Jaka

We only walked up to the river, so everything before that comes from the questionable memory of announcer Robbie Thompson.

Thompson tells us that Lawrence Greenberg was the preflop raiser, and Jaka came along out of the blinds to go heads-up. Jaka check-called a bet on the {10-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {5-Spades} flop, then led out with a small bet of 30,000 when the {5-Hearts} paired the board on fourth street. That's where we picked up the action for ourselves as we could sense the pot inflating from across the room. Greenberg raised to 130,000, Jaka shoved in, and Greenberg called off his last ~500,000 to put himself at risk. He was right, though.

Showdown
Greenberg: {A-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}
Jaka: {2-Hearts} {4-Hearts}

Sometimes good reads go unrewarded in this game, and such was the case here for Greenberg. Jaka's playing hot and running even hotter, and the river {6-Diamonds} completed his straight to earn him another elimination. We're going to have to get our abacuses out and do some figuring, but Jaka must have about 3.6 million now, and quite possibly closer to 3.7 or 3.8 million.

"Good call," he complimented Greenberg, though it didn't seem to be much consolation to the freshly eliminated gent.

Jacobson Punishes Pagano

[user66118]

Luca Pagano raised to 46,000 in the cutoff seat, and Martin Jacobson three-bet shoved for 291,000 from the small blind. Pagano needed a few minutes to consider, and he cut the calling chips from his stack to assess the potential damage. Finally, he double-checked his hole cards, picked up the blue-and-green tower that he's put aside and placed it carefully across the line. Jacobson was at risk, but he was in pretty good shape to at least get his chips back.

Showdown
Pagano: {A-Hearts} {3-Hearts}
Jacobson: {A-Clubs} {6-Spades}

The board ran {2-Diamonds} {K-Spades} {A-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}, and the six plays after all. Jacobson manages to find his double, and he's taken the majority of Pagano's stack in the process.

Folescu Runs Into Aces, Busts

Cristian Folescu (Day 2) - Eliminated
Cristian Folescu (Day 2) - Eliminated

Cristian Folescu opened to 60,000 in early position, and Alex Fitzgerald three-bet to 138,000 on his direct left. The action folded back to Folescu, who went into the tank. He then moved all in for 1 million chips, and Fitzgerald looked back at his cards to make sure they hadn't changed, then called.

Showdown
Folescu: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Fitzgerald: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}

The {7-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{5-Hearts} was pretty awful for Folescu, and the {j-Diamonds} on the turn took away his backdoor chop outs. The {6-Clubs} on the river ended the hand, and Folescu's 2012 PCA Main Event.

Fitzgerald is now well over 2 million chips, and battling for the chip lead.
