CardRunners Training: Will “HalcyonDays” Ma Shares “Sunday Bad Beats”

Today CardRunners instructor Will “HalcyonDays” Ma shares a preview of the first part of a new series of videos he calls “Sunday Bad Beats.”

It’s not what you think — Ma isn’t just sharing a series of bad beats with us, but rather he’s examining hands from a Sunday’s worth of play in which he believes he might have played poorly and/or that were interesting in some way. Indeed, neither of the two hands featured in this preview exemplify bad beats, but both do present interesting spots in which Ma was challenged not to make a misstep.

Both happen to find Ma holding {A-}{J-}-offsuit — often one of those “trouble hands” in no-limit hold’em — and connecting with the board in both cases. The second one involves him flopping two pair, then facing a huge check-raise on the river — and a difficult decision how to respond. Take a look:
