Guy Taylor Claims His First PokerStars SCOOP Title

Guy Taylor

Guy "temp0r2k" Taylor got his hands on his first PokerStars Spring Championship Of Online Poker (SCOOP) title when he came out on top in the SCOOP 07-M: $215 NLHE 7-Max Turbo PKO on May 8. Taylor saw his $215 investment swell into a bankroll-boosting $39,151.

Taylor took to Facebook shortly after the tournament’s final hand where he revealed he had earlier busted from a live tournament with kings versus queens versus jacks in a hand that would have seen him become the chip leader. He headed home, fired up PokerStars, and the rest is history.

A field of 1,853 entrants ensured the $275,000 guarantee was blown out of the water with a $370,600 prize pool created. Half that princely sum went to the top 252 finishers with the remaining 50% going on each entrant’s head.

Dozens of stellar players navigated their way into the money place. They included Ronan "Sw33ney" Sweeney, Arsenii "josef_shvejk" Karmatckii," Team PokerStars’ Ben "Spraggy" Spragg, former EPT London champion Robin "robinho" Ylitalo, and Scott "Aggro Santos" Margereson. However, they all fell short of the seven-handed final table.

The first three players eliminated from the final table exited with prizes of $3,330, $4,002, and $6,864; they were "mitiyy," "n.shum," and "Fruble." Everyone else reeled in five-figure hauls.

Austria’s "WestCliff21" received $10,663 for their fourth-place finish with Miguel "CambadaDeMixos" Lopes crashing out in third, a finish good for $13,875. Lopes’ exit left Taylor heads-up against "unconqer3d" of New Zealand, and the Kiwi proved no match for the popular Brit. Taylor became a SCOOP champion for the first time, an accolade that came with $39,151, while the runner-up added $31,475 to their lifetime winnings.

Cochrane made up for this bridesmaid finish by triumphing in the Omaholic Super Stack HR, an $840 buy-in affair with 84 entrants. The final table was a star-studded affair with the likes of Andrii Novak and Joshua McCully seated at it; they finished in fourth and third place. Cochrane then defeated Mads Amot heads-up and received $18,787, leaving Amot to collect $13,583 for his second-place finish.
