Dan "NukeTheFish!" Wilson Reels In $47K Score

Dan "NukeTheFish!" Wilson

Ireland’s Dan "NukeTheFish!" Wilson narrowly missed out on taking down the $530 Bounty Builder Bonanza High Roller at PokerStars, but did reel in an impressive $47,105 catch to start the week off in style. Wilson was one of 1,269 entrants in this tournament, which shuffled up and dealt on January 23 before concluding a day later.

The nine-handed final table got underway late on January 24 and there was plenty of talent on show. The waters grew a little less shark-infested when Brazilian duo Gabriel "aaurelio" Moura and Renato "bauruzito" Valentim busted early doors. They walked away with $7,244 and $6,767 respectively with bounties included.

"hamzes" of Bulgaria netted the tournament’s first five-figure prize, namely $15,228. The Bulgarian won more money than sixth-place finisher Jonas "llJaYJaYll" Lauck thanks to accumulating $8,604 worth of bounties; only the two other players claimed more scalps.

Wilson’s fellow Irish grinder "Skint Paddy" fell in fifth and may need a new alias because winning $15,438 hardly puts someone in the skint category. Moritz "MuckCallOK" Dietrich dusted off their stack in fourth, a finish worth $31,123.

Heads-up was set when Brazil’s "offQbert45" ran out of steam in third. They headed off with $33,755 in tow. Wilson fought it out with "tigredefu297" but could not quite get the job done and had to settle for a $47,105 consolation prize, while the champion banked $81,872.

Proudfoot Continues Hot Streak

Jonathan Proudfoot
Jonathan Proudfoot

Jonathan Proudfoot secured a similar payout to Wilson’s when he finished second in a GGPoker Super MILLION$ Week tournament. Proudfoot and 97 others bought into the $2,625 Deepstack 6-Max event and created a $245,000 prize pool.

The top 13 finishers shared this princely sum after Ole Schemion burst the money bubble when he crashed and burned in 14th place. Niklas Astedt, and Joshua McCully were among the star who saw a return on their $2,625 investment.

The final table was played seven-handed ut was soon down to six when Roman Hrabec bowed out. Luigi Curcio, "rivfun4me" and Pedro "PUYA" Rodriguez followed suit before Tauan Naves’ exit in third left Proudfoot heads-up with Christian Jeppsson.

Proudfoot fell at the final hurdle, but still helped himself to a $48,168 score, only one day after taking down the $525 Sunday Fifty Stack for $27,109. Jeppsson added another $66,620 to his lifetime winnings total courtesy of this victory.
