Cochrane Crushes Online $10K PLO Event; Banks Six Figures

Gavin Cochrane

Pot-Limit Omaha specialist Gavin Cochrane chalked off yet another victory in a major PLO event when he took down the $10,300 Omaholic Super High Roller at GGPoker on January 23.

The tournament came with a $400,000 guarantee thanks to it being part of the Super MILLION Week. GGPoker paid out $430,000 after processing 43 entries. A compact field meant only the top five finishers won a slice of the pie, with "Pandora-box" finishing in fifth-place for $40,561.

Brazil’s Dante Fernandes crashed out in fourth for $56,100 before Finnish superstar Eelis Parssinen saw his tournament end abruptly in third-place, a finish worth $77,592.

The Finn’s demise left Cochrane heads-up against Isaac Haxton, with both players now guaranteed to take home six-figures. Cochrane defeated Haxton in the final battle and secured a $148,428 payout, leaving Haxton to walk away with the $107,316 consolation prize.

Cochrane also reached the final table of the $525 Omaholic Bounty High Roller. However, the Brit came unstuck in sixth place for another $4,908 with bounties included.

Chidwick Misses Out On Glory But Still Nets $159K

Stephen Chidwick came close to taking down a pair of $10,300 High Rollers on January 23 but ultimately fell short in both. Chidwick lost heads-up against Niklas Astedt in the first of his deep runs. Second-place there came with an $86,048 addition to his bankroll.

Chidwick entered another $10,300 event and navigated his way to a third-place finish worth $73,557. Only Michael Addamo and eventual champion Daniel Dvoress outlasted the high-stakes guru.

Our hero also finished eighth in the $5,250 Sunday Blade Bounty for an additional $14,690.

It was not only at GGPoker where our players shone brightly because several of them crushed at PokerStars, too.

Ronan "Sw33ney" Sweeney is just one example. The Irishman came out on top in the $1,050 Sunday Warm-Up and walked away with $20,164. His prize could have been larger had he not struck a heads-up deal with Chris "ImDaNuts" Oliver. Simon "simon1471" Higgins finished in third-place in this tournament for $12,537.

Brandon "Tyrion2205" Sheils was the bridesmaid in the $109 Sunday Cooldown. Sheils fell at the final hurdle in this event, but the $18,384 he collected for second-place will go some way to numb the pain, of that we are sure.
