Top Ranked Grinders Banks Big Scores During Online Poker Festivals

Jareth East

The United Kingdom and Irish online poker tournament rankings, provided by PocketFives.com, have been updated, and the ongoing festivals have seen the top-ranked players help themselves to some pretty big scores.

Team partypoker’s Patrick "pleno1" Leonard has forged a sizeable lead for himself at the summit of the UK rankings, following his ridiculously good form, including back-to-back WCOOP victories, and a $124,184 score at GGPoker.

Jonathan "proudflop" Proudfoot still occupies second place despite enjoying his own scintillating form. Proudfoot continually helps himself to five figure payouts, including a $22,627 score for a third place finish in a $1,050 WCOOP event, and another $13,372 after taking down a $1,050 tournament at GGPoker.

Fifth-place Jareth "jareth3542" East helped himself to a $15,952 prize this week, which was his reward for a third-place finish in a $55 buy-in NLHE 8-Max Turbo PKO WCOOP event. East, who was ranked as highly as 14th in the world at one stage of his career, is now 74th on the planet.

Former world number one Conor "1_conor_b_1" Beresford narrowly missed out on a final table appearance in the $25,000 WCOOP Super High Roller. Beresford crashed out in 11th place, which was good for $69,195. Another 11th place finish a couple of days later, this time in a $5,200 NLHE event, saw Beresford reel in another $16,590.

"SeT44" is the biggest success story of the week, climbing from 17th to ninth place in the UK and almost 100 places in the worldwide standings. SeT44 netted $20,364 for a third-place finish in the $55 NLHE WCOOP event at PokerStars, scooped several four-figure prizes, then won the $525 Bounty Hunter HR at GGPoker for an impressive $17,073.

A doff of the cap also to Max "1mtm91" Sanders and "ZDARLIGHT" who saw their bankrolls swell this week. Sanders was a runner-up in a $250 Daily Main Event at GGPoker for $14,551 while ZDARLIGHT walked away with more than $20,000 for a third-place finish in the PokerStars $530 Bounty Builder High Roller.

O’Kearney Continues Crushing

The top 20 of the Irish Online Poker Rankings remains almost exactly the same as last week but there were some impressive scores enjoyed by men and women from the Emerald Isle.

Frank "Denman98" Lillis locked in yet another large score, this time one worth $5,985, Lillis’ reward for a third-place exit from the GGPoker Daily Special $125. Lillis is now almost 1,500 points ahead of Alex "FutureofMe" Kulev in second.

Kulev narrowed the gap at the top by being the last man standing in the $525 Bounty Hunter HR at GGPoker, a result worth $15,618. He also finished third in WCOOP-48-H: $530 NLHE 6-Max Freezeout for $22,630 but that result came too late to count towards this week’s tally.

A resurgent Dara "Doke" O’Kearney cemented himself into third place. Fourth place in a $55 WCOOP event came with a $22,321 haul while victory in the GGPoker Sunday Special $33 awarded Doke $7,410. Like Kulev, O’Kearney had a big score come too late for this week’s leaderboard update; he won the $55 Day Saver Hyper at GGPoker for $6,309.

Sven "SvenCalls" McDermott narrowly missed out on a five-figure haul when he finished second in the WSOP Online: $125 Daily 6-Handed for $9,781, while Johnathen "johnymcc" McCullagh won the $10K Gtd Blade at partypoker for $1,867.

PokerStars proved a happy hunting ground for Brenden "daehbonk" Naughton; he won the Bigger $44 for $2,757 with Kevin "KevinK82" Keely netting the $1,311 top prize in the Hot $16.50, also at PokerStars.
