Frank “Denman98” Lillis Wins Again!

Sunday briefing

Frank “Denman98” Lillis is in red hot form right now, and can seemingly do no wrong at the poker tables. Lillis is the runaway leader in the Irish online poker rankings, and will extend his already unassailable lead thanks to his victory in the Hotter $215 at PokerStars this weekend.

Lillis outlasted 298 opponents in the Hotter $215, one of PokerStars late Sunday PKO tournaments. The nine finalists fell by the wayside one by one, until Lillis found himself heads-up against Maltese grinder Luigi “II-Giuglia” D’Alterio.

Both players secured almost $4,400 from the main prize pool, but the final bounty payment was worth more than double that. Lillis got his hands on a $9,031 bounty prize after he defeated D’Alterio heads-up, taking his total haul to $13,414. D’Alterio walked away with a $5,478 consolation prize.

Leonard Misses Out on Sunday Marathon Glory

Patrick “pads1161” Leonard tops the UK online poker rankings and is doing his best to hold onto the tiniest of leads from Jonathan “proudflop” Proudfoot. Leonard narrowly missed out on glory in the $530 Sunday Marathon, falling in fourth place for a $3,964 score. Will that be enough to stay as the UK’s number one? Only time will tell.

Near Misses at 888poker

Three of our players navigated their way to the final tables of 888poker’s biggest Sunday tournaments. “ayemax08” and “casual_win” finished seventh and fifth in the $50,000 Big Shot 525, and won $2,125 and $3,500 respectively.

Shout-out to “Franckysucce” of Ireland who was the runner-up in the $150,000 Big Shot 109 Main Event, a result worth an impressive $16,020.

Big Scores at GGPoker

The 2021 WSOP Online is underway at GGPoker, and the increased traffic generated from it resulted in some juicy prize pools.

“ExoticJoe” of Ireland was one beneficiary of the extra traffic. The Irish grinder was one of 951 entrants in the WSOP Online: $555 Sunday Second Chance. He managed to outlast all but one of those starters, falling in second-place for a bankroll-boosting $52,895 score.

Two other Irish stars went deep in GGPoker events on August 1. First, “IceMelts” finished fifth in the $150 GGMasters, and walked away with $1,9051. Dermot Blain busted from the WSOP High Rollers: $840 Pot-Limit Omaha Hundred Stack in third-place, his second bullet coming with a $14,993 haul.

Shout-out also to Jonathan Proudfoot who was the runner-up in the $525 High Rollers Supersonic Bounty for a $5,289 prize.
