Seiver & Berkey Learn Pocket Kings Giveth and Taketh on Poker After Dark

Poker After Dark

On Monday night, PokerGO aired the second episode of "Poker After Dark” Season 13, which was Part 2 of “The Nosebleeds.”

The game was $200/$400 no-limit hold’em with a $400 big blind ante. The minimum buy-in was $40,000 with no max. MJ Gonzales, who some might know as Daniel Negreanu’s poker coach, and Zach Franzi both made their Poker After Dark debuts the week before. They were once agin joined by Negreanu, Scott Seiver, Matt Berkey, and Dan Smith. Also, the game expanded from six-handed to seven as Jake Daniels took a seat in the game.

Below is a look at five of either the biggest or most interesting hands from this week's episode. Also, here’s a look at the stacks at the top of the broadcast:

Berkey Induces Franzi

Franzi raised the cutoff to $1,100 holding the {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and Berkey three-bet to $4,000 from the small blind with the {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. Franzi called and then called a continuation-bet of $1,500 from Berkey on the {5-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop.

On the {q-Hearts} turn, Berkey checked top pair and Franzi bet $4,400 with just ace-high. Berkey called and then checked again on the {q-Spades} river. Franzi bluffed at it with a bet of $12,300, but he couldn’t shake Berkey, who called to win the $45,200 pot.

Franzi Takes from Seiver

Franzi looked down at the {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and raised to $1,000 from middle position. Seiver three-bet to $4,000 with the {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} in the small blind and Franzi called to see a flop of {q-Spades}{j-Clubs}{9-Hearts}.

Seiver checked top pair with the better kicker and Franzi, who had top pair with an up-and-down straight draw, fired $6,300. Seiver called and then checked the {3-Spades} turn.

Franzi bet again, this time $13,200, and Seiver called to see the {k-Spades} river, which gave him top two pair. Seiver checked it and Franzi, who made his straight, tossed out a bet of $15,100. Seiver didn’t seem happy about it but called after thinking about it for a couple of minutes. Ship the $78,000 pot to Franzi.

Gonzales Sets Up Berkey

Berkey raised to $1,000 from middle position with the {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} and Gonzales three-bet to $2,800 with the {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} in the cutoff. Not to be outdone, Berkey four-bet to $11,500, and Gonzales opted to call. He was no doubt happy he did too as the {j-Spades}{a-Clubs}{10-Clubs} flop delivered him a set.

With an ace on board, Berkey checked it and Gonzales bet just $4,000. With straight and backdoor flush draws, Berkey called and the dealer burned and turned the {4-Hearts} turn.

Berkey checked for the second time and Gonzales checked it back to bring about the {9-Clubs} on the river. Berkey checked for a final time and Gonzales bet $13,700 in the pot of $32,000. Berkey put in the chips only to watch the $59,400 pot pushed to Gonzales.

Seiver Trips Up Daniels

Scott Seiver

Daniels raised to $1,000 first to act with the {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} and Seiver defended his big blind with the {8-Spades}{5-Diamonds}. Seiver check-called a bet of $800 with bottom pair, which turned into trips on the {5-Spades} turn.

Seiver checked it again and just called when Daniels bet $3,100.

The {2-Hearts} river was a brick and Seiver coyly checked for the third time. Daniels bet $10,500 and Seiver, who only had $23,800 total, paused for a few beats before check-raising all in. Daniels called and saw the $58,000 pot claimed by Seiver.

Seiver raised to $1,000 from middle position with the {k-Spades}{k-Hearts} and Franzi called with the {q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}. Smith came along from the big blind with the {4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and it was three-way action to the {6-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} flop.

Smith checked bottom pair, Seiver continued for $2,500, and Franzi folded. Smith called and hit gin when the {4-Hearts} turn gave him two pair. He checked it to Seiver, who bet $8,000.

Smith just called and the {3-Diamonds} completed the board on the river. Smith led out for $8,000 of his own and Seiver paid it off. With that, Smith claimed a pot worth $40,600.
