Christoph Vogelsang Leads $1M Gtd World Cup of Cards Main Event
Table Of Contents
The biggest tournament on the World Cup of Cards schedule, the $1,100 buy-in $1 million guaranteed Main Event, shuffled up and dealt at partypoker on June 27. Some 354 players bought into what was the first of four flights, with 53 making it through to Day 2 at the first attempt.
Christoph Vogelsang was not only one of the 53 surviving players when the curtain came down on Day 1A proceedings, but found himself in the envious position of being the overall chip leader. Can anyone stop the talented German’s march towards glory?

|4||Jon Van Fleet||Canada||2,631,652|
|10||Charles Whitehouse||United Kingdom||2,145,697|
Vogelsang, a player with more than $25 million in live tournament cashes, finished Day 1A with a tournament-leading stack of 3,363,472 chips despite sitting down with a 200,000 chip starting stack. his performance at the tables was excellent, but almost matched by a pair of Brazilian grinders who almost pipped him to the post in the race for the overnight chip lead.
Rodrigo Selouan must be pleased with finishing on 3,248,223 chips, while fellow countryman Thiago Crema’s stack of 3,235,609 puts him in a great position going into Day 2 and, hopefully for him, beyond.
Lurking in fourth place is the inaugural MILLIONS Online champion Jon “apestyles” Van Fleet on 2,631,652 chips. The seasoned pro is one to keep on your radar as the tournament progresses.
Three of the Day 1A top ten won their $1,100 seats via a Mega Satellite also held on June 27. Fifty seats were won in the $215 Mega Satellite, although players could win their way into the final from only $0.01.
Hungary’s James Whittet’s 2,386,653 chips are enough for seventh place right now, while Armin Rezaei (2,214,071) and Charles Whitehouse (2,145,697) are currently placed ninth and tenth respectively.
Former World Series of Poker Main Event finalist, Nick Marchington (765,105) was among the ten Mega Satellite Day 1A survivors.
A whole host of other poker stars punched their Day 2 tickets at the first time of asking, too. David Coleman (1,811,888), Brandon Adams (1,709,695), and Bruno Volkmann (1,332,153) among them. Current MILLIONS Online champion Endrit Geci (518,396) is also through, although with not as many chips as he would have hoped for.
