Stephen Chidwick Helps Himself to a $232K Prize

Stephen Chidwick

Some poker players can go their entire careers without sampling the sweet taste of victory in a poker tournament. Stephen Chidwick isn’t just some poker player, however, the man is an absolute beast at the table.

Chidwick racked up yet another victory in a high profile event, the $525 High Roller MILLION$ at GGPoker, finishing first from a field of 458. Fellow Brit Chris Moorman’s tournament ended in 10th place for an $8,926 score, leaving Chidwick as the United Kingdom’s sole representative in the event.

He eventually found himself heads-up against Brazil’s Renan Bruschi where the final duo struck a deal. The dead saw Brushi finish in second for $232,591 and Chidwick scoop $232,843 and the title of champion.

Amazingly, Chidwick has the chance of another huge six-figure prize on October 20. Why? Because he’s navigated his way to the final table of the Super MILLION$, the tournament he finished second in last week for $263,791. Chidwick returns third in chips and guaranteed to win at lest $41,608 and as much as $317,740. What a guy!

Our hero wasn’t the only British or Irish player to pad their GGPoker bankrolls this weekend because these stars also won big:

We also had a winner over at partypoker where streamer Jamie Nixon triumphed in the $530 Big Game. He outlasted 459-opponents, including the pair of grinders he struck a deal with when the tournament was three-handed. Nixon banked $35,454 for his troubles.

There were a handful of final table appearances by our players at 888poker too. “garethmonk” banked $2,250 for their eighth-place finish in the $100,000 Sunday Mega Deep.

“lysy69666” also finished eighth but in the $25,000 Sunday Challenge PKO. This result weighed in at $541. James “BL1NDRAZOR” Walsh finished fifth in that tournament for a combined score worth $895.

Connection problems at PokerStars on October 19 resulted in several Day 2s being cancelled, damaging the potential prizes of some of our stars. Some managed to enjoy some decent prizes on the previous day, however.

  • “Losangeles177” – fourth-place in the Bounty Builder Series $530 NLHE for $14,353*
