Ciaran “Underraiser” Cooney Wins IPO Main Event at Unibet Poker

Ciaran Cooney

Unibet Poker hosted the 2020 International Poker Open (IPO) Dublin Main Event over the weekend and it’s safe to say it was a roaring success.

A field of 211 players exchanged €300 for the chance to become an IPO champion. Those 211 entrants created a €59,502 prize pool, smashing the €50,000 guarantee. The top 35 finishers padded their bankrolls with a slice of that pie and it was Ciaran “Underraiser” Cooney who got his hands on the lion’s share and the title of champion.

Only 39 players punched their Day 2 tickets and they returned to the fray on Sunday night. They did so knowing four of them were going home empty-handed, nothing but memories and a little more experience to show for their efforts.

“L1m1tLess” was the unfortunate soul who burst the money bubble, paving the way for a cash of at least €514. That prize continued increases to the point everyone at the nine-handed final table was guaranteed a four-figure prize.

That final table was set when ”k4cmanovic” fell in 10th place for €882.

“PeterMadsen” was the first casualty at the final table, their ninth-place finish awarded a €1,046 prize. “YlijohtajaMC” (8th - €1,339), “barckk” (7th - €1,903), and “xMerlinx” (6th - €2,614), fell by the wayside to leave the final table short-handed.

Fifth place and €3,554 went to “ChipsofBG” before “QuochPham” ran out of steam and saw their tournament end abruptly in fourth-place for a €4,811 score.

Heads-up was set when “purrrt” fell by the wayside. Purrrt collected €6,535 for their €300 investment.

Cooney and “Yey2020” locked horns heads-up for the tournament’s five-figure top prize. Cooney came out on top thanks to hitting quad queens, as you do, a hand that ultimately resulted in him scooping the €12,524 first-place prize, which left Yey2020 to claim the €8,946 consolation prize.

More than a dozen other Unibet Poker players became IPO champions throughout the series. Two in particular stand out from the crowd.

“ImRichAreU18” triumphed in the €25,000 IPO Mini Main Event, topping a field of 262 entrants and claiming €5,262 as a result.

“Peraltiago” took down the €25,000 IPO High Roller and turned their €500 into a cool €8,141.
