UK & Ireland Sunday Briefing: Tyler Goatcher Wins Sunday Supersonic

Imagine turning $1,050 into $26,880 in only 2.25 hours. It’d be amazing, right? That’s exactly what Tyler “wonderboy222” Gotacher did on June 28 when he won the $1,050 Sunday Supersonic at PokerStars.

Goatcher was one of 129-entries in the high roller edition of the Sunday Supersonic at PokerStars and was the last man standing when the dust settled. He and runner-up “chorizo72” of Denmark struck a deal when heads-up that gifted Goatcher $26,880 and the runner-up $25,174.

The PokerStars player known as “Phemo” also took down a Sunday major on June 28, triumphing in the $215 Sunday Warm-Up. Phemo locked up the $25,689 top prize after defeating fellow Brit “Ben_Apart” heads-up, resigning the runner-up to a $18,642 score.

Andrew “stato_1” Hulme also reached the final table of this event but his stay there was short-lived. Hulme crashed out in ninth-place and won $1,976.

  • Tyler “wonderboy222” Goatcher – third-place in the $530 Sunday 500 for $4,241*
  • “despedespi33” – fifth-place in the Hotter $162 for $3,750*
  • “Ben_Apart” – sixth-place in the $530 Omania High Roller for $2,362
  • Dan “NukeTheFish!” Wilson – fifth-place in the Bigger $215 for $2,035

There were some decent scores over at partypoker too, including a deep run in the $750,000 guaranteed Big Game for Scott Margereson. He fell in 12th from 161 entrants to more than tripled his $5,200 investment into $16,390.

Richard Bell and Robert Finch reached final tables of two other High Roller Club tournaments. Bell finished fifth in the $50K Gtd Turbo Knockout for $2,060 while Finch won a combined $4,702 for his seventh-place exit in the $100K Gtd Knockout event.

Over at 888poker, “kanabal18” took down the $25,000 Sunday Challenge, topping a field of 374 players to bank $7,648. Two other Brits navigated their way to the final table, “usainzeus25” banking $4,226 for their third-place finish and Carl “SwansFC_CJ” Johns winning $3,179 for their fourth-place exit.

Two more of our players went deep in the $20,000 Mini Mega Deep. “Ram39” saw their $22 investment turn into $937 following a sixth-place before “V3rtygo” ran out of steam in fifth-place, a finish worth $1,163.

The Freezeout Series’ $10,000 guaranteed Micro Main Event attracted a crowd of 2,091 players and four Union Jacks were spotted on the nine-handed final table.

“Nevercall16” fell in ninth for $122 with “Guts92” busting in fourth for $674. “Invented21st” busted in third-place for an $898 prize with “fernythrills” tripping up at the final hurdle, crashing out in second-place for $1,239.

GGPoker proved to be a happy hunting ground for our players once again, especially for “manners1990” who finished second in the Global MILLION$, $1M Gtd tournament for a cool $94,215, quite the return on a $100 buy-in.

“spicypigeon” will look back on June 28 with fond memories thanks to locking up the $35,973 third-place prize of the GGMasters $150K Gtd and fifth-place in the Bounty Hunters Main Event $210 for a $10,669 prize plus $2,728 worth of bounties.

  • “kastaban” – eighth-place in the High Rollers Sunday Wrap-Up for $1,567
