On the penultimate Super Sunday of the 2020 Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) at PokerStars, 12 new champions werecrowned. Dimitar "trionojnika" Yosifov was one of them and among the biggest winners with more than $100,000 in prize money in SCOOP 98-H: $530 NLHE [8-Max, Turbo, Progressive KO, Mini Sunday Cooldown SE]

In addition, cards went in the air for the second chance of the Main Events (both in NLHE and PLO). PokerNews live reporting was back in full force with live coverage of three eye-catching second chance Main Events, where Jans "Graftekkel" Arends is leading the way in the $5,200 NLHE Main Event after Day 1.

Jans "Graftekkel" Arends Tops 42 Survivors After Day 1 of SCOOP 96-H: $5,200 Main Event 2nd Chance

The 2020 PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) is on the home stretch and one week of online poker action remains for the extended schedule to take a shot at earning one of the elusive SCOOP title for the poker resume.

Among the events to kick off was the SCOOP-96-H: $5,200 NLHE [8-Max, Main Event 2nd Chance] and the guarantee was easily surpassed thanks to 324 unique players and additional 141 re-entries. A total field size of 465 entries created a prize pool of $2,325,000 and the top 55 spots locked up a payday of at least five figures whereas the top five finishers will earn six-figure scores.

After 24 levels of 20 minutes each, the bubble burst and 13 players already earned $11,735.67 for their efforts, the next pay jump will be locked up with 39 players remaining as 42 contenders advanced to the penultimate day.

One of the players to fire the maximum of three bullets in the event was Jans "Graftekkel" Arends and that proved to be a golden decision as he topped the Day 1 survivors with a massive stack of 9,351,977. Second-placed "temka99" from Moldova is nearly three million in chips behind and has 6,393,999 to his name while Michel "FreelancerZZ" Dattani rounds out the overnight podium with a stack of 5,356,025.

"Markudre" Takes Day 1 Chip Lead in SCOOP 96-M: $530 Main Event 2nd Chance

After 8 hours and 30 minutes, Day 1 of the PokerStars 2020 SCOOP 96-M: $530 Main Event 2nd Chance has come to an end with 640 players making it through to Day 2. The first six hours or so of the tournament attracted 3,325 unique players entering a total of 4,899 times to create a prize pool of $2,449,500. When Day 2 restarts, the bubble will be looming as 607 players will get paid at least $1,122 with the winner walking away with $348,643 on Tuesday, May 26.

Claiming the Day 1 chip lead is "Markudre" with 2,778,816. Most of those chips were won when they eliminated "kingdude007" in one of the final hands of the day. They had rivered two pair against the top pair of "kingdude007" when all the chips went in on the river and they got paid. Second in the counts is someone who is familiar in the live and online poker scene, Pablo "pabritz" Brito goes into Day 2 with 2,617,081. Brito busted Joep "Pappe_Ruk" van den Bijgaart when he turned trip kings against the two pair of Van den Bijgaart.

Ivan "Negriin" Luca finished third in the counts with 2,554,624. The Argentinian player also made a late surge to end towards the top of the counts. The top five of the leaderboard is completed with "gaul17" with 2,423,399 and "MezuuÜuuT" with 2,416,141. Also in the top ten are Christian "ChristianBR4" Almeida and Geovanne "Grande_Prego" Pereira.

Chun Lei "SamRostan" Zhou Leads the Remaining 21 Players Into Day 2 of SCOOP 97-H: $5,200 PLO [6-Max Main Event 2nd Chance]

Just under eight hours of action-filled play in Day 1 of the 2020 PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) Event #97-H: $5,200 [6-Max, PLO Main Event 2nd Chance], $750K Gtd) saw 167 entries dwindle down to just 21 players finding their way to Day 2.

Leading the remaining players is Chun Lei "SamRostan" Zhou who won a huge pot in the last hand of the night bringing his chip total to 5,153,568 after he turned a staright leaving Joao "vovo_leo" Studart with complete dust.

The field was stacked with many recognizable pros throughout the day and many of them are still sitting near the top of the leaderboard.

Noah "Exclusive" Boeken finished the day in second place with a stack of 4,096,572 with Andrew "ClockWyze" Pantling coming in a close third holding 4,050,284. Next is Myrmo "locomi" Espen with 3,579,536 chips and Andras "probirs" Nemeth 3,492,980 rounds out the top five stacks.
