UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings: Beresford Opens Huge Lead

Conor Beresford

Conor “1_conor_b_1” Beresford has opened up a huge lead in the United Kingdom Online Poker Rankings, provided by PocketFives.com, following a string of impressive results. Beresford now enjoys a 2,368-point lead over Patrick “pleno1” Leonard in the UK and only trails the legendary Niklas “Lena900” Astedt in the worldwide standings.

Beresford banked more than $19,000 for a third-place finish in a PokerStars $530 Bounty Builder High Roller before taking down the $5,200 High Roller Main Event for a career-best $378,205. Incredibly, Beresford also won the $10,300 High Rollers event for an additional $239,652!

Team partypoker pro Leonard has been helping himself to plenty of five-figure prizes this past week. He went deep in a partypoker POWERFEST tournament for $12,489 and finished second in a $100K Gtd POWERFEST for another $26,350. Leonard was also the runner-up in the $1,050 Daily Cooldown at PokerStars for more than $15,000.

Third-place is still Tyler “Wonderboy222” Goatcher’s to hold onto. Goatcher banked $15,098 when he finished third in a PokerStars $1,050 Daily Warm-Up. He now has a near 1,300-point gap between himself and fourth-placed Kenny “SpaceyFCB” Hallaert in the UK rankings.

Transitioning from live to online poker

UK-based Spaniard Javier “que_te_crio” Fernandez is another player to hit form. He won $18,253 a couple of weeks ago and followed that big score up with two massive prizes at PokerStars. Fernandez finished second in the $2,100 NLHE 8-Max PKO for more than $40,000 and then was the runner-up in the $1,050 Super Tuesday for $27,164.

Soaring up the rankings this week is Mustapha “lasagnaammmm” Kanit who has been loving the High Rollers series at PokerStars. He finished third in a $5,200 buy-in six-max event and took home $72,730 on the same day as collecting $21,507 from the $1,050 Daily Warm-Up. Those results came only a day after Kanit locked up $16,580 for a runner-up finish in the $530 Daily Supersonic.

Ronan Sweeney Reclaims Irish Number One Spot

Ronan “Sw33ney” Sweeney has reclaimed the number one spot in the Irish standings after last week’s top player, “Rowniwn” decided to remove their PocketFives account. Sweeney holds a 90 point advantage over second-placed James “Jaymo” Noonan.

Noonan racks up several dozen tournaments per week so it’s only a matter of time, surely, before he finds himself ranked number one in the Emerald Isle?

Matthew “flukeybob” Brady padded his bankroll with a five-figure prize after triumphing in a PokerStars $55 Bounty Builder event. Brady secured more than $11,000 for his impressive victory.

Three promos you simply can't miss

Dino “dinos662” Sabatini put together a trio of big results. He finished eighth in the GGPoker GGMasters for $7,182, was the runner-up in the PokerStars Hot $5.50 for $1,256 and finished third in the $22 Mini Monday 6-Max for $5,843.

Frank “Denman98” Lillis returned to the Irish top 10 this week after tearing it up at PokerStars. Lillis finished fourth in a €125 buy-in SCOOP France event for $11,197, binked the Hot $22 for $9,766 and the $109 Bounty Builder for more than $5,000. He also won the Big $109 for $8,419 and netted more than $5,000 from a third-place finish in a $215 Bounty Builder!

There’s also a new name in the Irish top 20 this week, that of Alex “FutureOfMe” Kulev. He won a Mix-Max partypoker POWERFEST event for $15,252 then finished third in another for $5,873. Kulev now has $60,054 in online poker tournament winnings and is one to keep an eye on.
