Last weekend’s Sunday Million was two-day event that carried a $2.5 million guaranteed prize pool. A filed of 34,077, made up of 25,163 unique entries and 8,914 re-entries, created a $3,407,700 prize pool that was shared among the top 6,137 finishers.
Everyone at the final table locked up at least $21,167 for their grind. The first of two Chinese finalists “ZZxingchen” busted in ninth and collected this impressive sum.
Greece’s “MonoXrima” was the next to fall with eighth-place yielding a $28,649 prize. Two German players then fell in quick succession. “J_F_119” helped themselves to the $38,774 seventh-place prize before “ginolatino33” ran out of steam and banked $52,478 after falling in sixth.
Brammer was the biggest name left in the hunt for the near $240,000 top prize, but the victory was far from a done deal. No-Limit Hold’em tournament can change on the back of a single hand, but Brammer had been in this position many times previously and used his vast experience to his advantage.
“getpuzzled” of Brazil fell by the wayside in fifth for a $71,204 addition to their bankroll before “Excellent233” of the Ukraine crashed and burned in fourth for $96,126, which was the last prize not to weigh in at six-figures.
Chinese grinder “bluedarkch” was the first player to scoop a six-figure prize. Their third-place finish saw $130,099 added to their PokerStars account.
England has fought some epic battles with Argentina in the football arena over the years, and this heads-up match pitted those two countries together. All too often, Argentina would run out winners with the football, but Brammer exacted revenge and secured the $238,333 top prize, resigning “rarmiro” to a still welcomed $176,078 consolation prize.
