UK Global Poker Index: Ludovic Geilich Climbs to Second
Table Of Contents
The United Kingdom Global Poker Index (GPI) is still lead, unsurprisingly, by Stephen Chidwick who has kicked 2020 off in the same style as he ended 2019.
Chidwick recorded a fifth-place finish in the A$25,000 PLO event at the Aussie Millions before finishing second, fourth, and first in a trio of Australian Poker Open events. That last trio banked Chidwick A$669,280.
There’s a new number two, however, with Team partypoker’s Ludovic Geilich climbing up three places since the last time we checked in.
Geilich registered a cash worth $4,500 in the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Mini at Dusk Till Dawn. He also finished 11th in the $10,300 buy-in Main Event, a result that yielded $60,000.
The rest of the top five are similar to earlier in the year. Ben Heath, Jack Salter, and Jack Sinclair occupying third through fifth-place.
You find some new names further down the UK’s leaderboard. Two deep Aussie Millions runs by Benny Glaser see him climb to 11th.
Ben Winsor isn’t too far behind in 14th. Winsor is in incredible form with his last five cashes being a fifth-place, a brace of runner-up finishes and two victories. One of those wins came in the £340 GUKPT London Mini Main Event for £39,920. Winsor when on to finish second in the £1,500 Main Event for an additional £91,270.
These results came only one month after he became the first player in GUKPT history to win two Grand Final tournaments; this latest one saw Winsor haul in £188,610.
Another GUKPT regular, Richard Kellett has entered the UK top 20 for the first time. Kellett is the reigning GUKPT Player of the Year and he took his form to Melbourne where he won the A$2,000 NLHE Bounty event for A$139,725. Kellet finds himself in 17th place in the UK and a career-high 254th in the world.

United Kingdom 2020 GPI Player of the Year Standings (Feb. 27)
Jack Sinclair is the man to catch in the UK GPI Player of the Year race for 2020. Sinclair netted A$172,380 for a sixth-place finish in the A$25,000 $25K Challenge at the Aussie Million, cashed in the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS South America Main Event, and in the recent WPT Germany Main Event in Rozvadov.
The latest leaderboard has a brace of brand new names on it. Artan Dedusha is here courtesy of his victory in the 2020 GUKPT London Main Event that saw him win £137,430 and his 10th place finish in the WPT Germany Main Event worth €24,000.
Chris DaSilva is now in the top 10 after a flying start to the year. Cashes at the GUKPT London festival, the WPTDeepStacks Brussels, and Kings of Tallinn have seen him enter the POY race in seventh.
A trio of solid results in partypoker LIVE MILLIONS events have done Roberto Romanello’s hopes of a Player of the Year title no harm at all. He cashed in both the MILLIONS Mini and MILLIONS Main Event at Dusk Till Dawn, then again in the MILLIONS South America Main Event.
