UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings: Kanit and Buhler Return to UK Top 20

Mustapha Kanit

Patrick “pleno1” Leonard is still by far the number one ranked online poker player from the United Kingdom, according to PocketFives.com, although he has slipped to second in the world behind the in-form Sami “Lrslzk” Kelopuro.

There were no big scores for Leonard during the last reporting period, but two UK-based international players enjoyed some success and are now back in the top 20 on the leaderboard.

Italian high roller Mustapha “lasagnaammm” Kanit climbed to 19th place in the rankings following his victory in the $530 Bounty Builder High Roller at PokerStars. Kanit walked away with more than $30,000 for his win. Prior to that victory, Kanit won more than $10,000 for a fifth-place finish in the $2,100 Sunday Cooldown, and $5,886 for a ninth place in the $2,100 Sunday High Roller.

Henri “Buehlero” Buhler also found himself as the last man standing in a big event when he triumphed in the $530 Bounty Builder High Roller. The German, who resides in Edinburgh, won more than $60,000 for his impressive victory.

Former UK number one Conor “1_conor_b_1” Beresford finished third in the PokerStars $2,100 Sunday High Roller and scooped $24,863 before another third-place exit, this time in the $1,050 Daily Cooldown, locked up another $5,500+ prize.

One man who has been in incredible form is Kenny “SpaceyFCB” Hallaert. The Belgian has started October like a house on fire and has soared to fifth in the UK standings. Some of his biggest results include:

  • 1st place in the Sunday High Roller grind at partypoker for $12,373

  • 100th place in the High Roller Gladiator at partypoker for $6,210
  • 7th place in the Gladiator at partypoker for $4,224

Tyler “wonderboy222” Goatcher is also in the middle of a purple patch. A win in the $109 NLHE 6-Max PKO yielded more than $2,200 with his bronze medal finish in the Hot $215 securing $2,812. Two partypoker results saw Goatcher bank $6,843 and $3,716 and a second-place in the PokerStars Big $215 locked up $3,695.

Jonathan “Proudflop” Proudfoot won the Daily 500 for $9,852 while Patrick “thebigdog09” Brookes fell at the final hurdle in the partypoker Gladiator and enjoyed a $4,894 payday. Finally, a shout-out to “ZDARLIGHT23” who won $6,383 at partypoker by finishing second in the High Roller Turbo.
