Star Studded Final Table Set in WPT UK Main Event; Brandstrom Leads

Simon Brandstrom

The final table of the 2019 World Poker Tour (WPT) UK Main Event is set after the 100 players who returned for Day 3 were whittled down to only nine.

Amrik Kang was the first payer to bust on Day 3. Yang was followed by the likes of Kuljinder Sidhu, Romain Lewis, Harry Lodge, Tom Hall, Marc Foggin, Jeff Kimber, Kahle Burns, Christopher Brammer, Adrian Mateos, and Paul Newey, the latter busting in 10th pace for $28,500.

A trio of Team partypoker pro also cashed. Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Jeff Gross and Sam Trickett being the three diamond patch sporting pros to reach the money places.

Newey’s elimination set the nine-handed final table where everyone is guaranteed $36,000 for their $3,300 buy-in. The top four finishers win a six-figure prize with the champion being inducted into the WPT Champions Club and walking away with $330,000.

Simon Brandstrom is the chip leader at start of play. Brandstrom is in incredible form being the current WPTDeepStacks Player of the Year and having won the European Poker Tour Barcelona Main Event for €1,290,166 in September.

James Rann goes into the final day’s action second in chips. Rann has more than $860,000 in live poker tournament winnings thanks in part to two cashes in WPT UK side events. A 27th place in the $550 Opener netted Rann $3,000 with his 11th place exit from the Devilsih Cup securing a $17,500 prize.

The 2018 Irish Open champion Ryan Mandara is the only other player with more than 3,000,000 chips in their stack. Mandara recently finished seventh in the £560 GUKPT London Main Event for £5,500 and burst the final table bubble in the £560 GUKPT Leeds Main Event.

Siddle Continues to Excel

Paul Siddle returns fourth in chips and is hoping to go one place deeper than his impressive run in the Devilfish Cup. Siddle finished second to Richard Trigg in that event and won a career-best $200,000.

All eyes are on Maria Lampropulos who enters the final table fifth in chips. The Argentinian has a superb record at Dusk Till Dawn thanks to winning partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Main Event in April 2017 for a £1,000,000 score. She may be in the middle of the pack, but don’t write of Lampropulos’ chances of WPT glory.

Making up the rest of the final table, but certainly not just there to make up the numbers, are Leo Worthington-Lees, Manig Loeser, Matthew Eardley, and Paul Jackson. Loeser has the most winnings of that quartet combined with $10,795,241 in earnings.
