Patrick Leonard: World number one

The increased traffic online for WCOOP, partypoker KO Series and others helped created some big prize pools for the best tournament players to get a piece of. One such player was partypoker-sponsored pro Patrick “pleno1” Leonard.

Leonard soared to the worldwide number one spot after a handful of five-figure scores. He banked $21,289 for finishing fourth in the PokerStars $2,100 Sunday High Roller, $12,282 at Natural8 in one of their GG Series events, and $11,536 for a 10th place exit in a $750K Gtd KO Series event at partypoker.

That was not all. Leonard won the $1,050 Monday 6-Max at PokerStars for $24,853 before taking down the $1,050 Daily Warm-Up for an additional $29,176. Leonard now has a lead of 1,600 points over second-place Conor “1_conor_b_1” Beresford.

Beresford himself enjoyed plenty of success last week. The Netherlands-based star won the PokerStars $215 Bounty Builder for more than $40,000 and locked up third place in a $1,050 Daily Warm-Up for a further $13,392.

UK-based Belgian “girafganger7” was also among the big winners, hauling in $39,361 for a third-place exit in a $1,050 NLHE WCOOP event. They also triumphed in the $530 Daily 500 at PokerStars for $10,796 and in the $215 Bounty Builder for more than $10,000.

Tyler “wonderboy222” Goatcher continued his impressive form with a huge $61,284 score for a second-place finish in a $1,050 NLHE 8-Max WCOOP event among other superb results.

Shout-outs also to Jamie “EzGame89” O’Connor who netted more than $90,000 in a $1.25 million guaranteed PKO WCOOP, to Michael “mczhang” Zhang who banked a $352,811 score for winning the $10,300 NLHE WCOOP High Roller and to “dawhiteninja” who netted $23,397 for a seventh-place finish in the $1,050 Super Tuesday SE.
