UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings: Leonard Rises to Second in World

Patrick “pleno1” Leonard has his sights firmly set on the worldwide number one spot on the online poker rankings, provided by, as he climbed to second-place this week.

Leonard, sponsored by partypoker, was formerly ranked number one in the world from mid Aug. 2014 through to mid Nov. 2014. Only Hungary’s Andras “probirs” Nemeth has more leaderboard points (137) than Leonard and he regularly plays the massive buy-in tournaments on the GG Network.

Our hero has three victories this past week. Leonard banked $31,854 by triumphing in the $1,050 Daily Warm-Up 8-Max before winning the $530 Daily 500 for an additional $11,470. He then took down the $1,050 Daily Cooldown 8-Max Turbo PKO for more than $20,000, all at PokerStars.

Former UK number one Conor “1_conor_b_1” Beresford netted $6,835 for his seventh-place finish in the PokerStars $1,050 Daily Warm-Up while “girafganger7” won both the $215 Bounty Builder and $530 Bounty Builder High Roller for more than $20,000.

Patrick “thebigdog09” Brooks also found himself in the winner’s circle courtesy of a victory in the partypoker Terminator: $10K Gtd for $2,988, a similar prize that was awarded to Tyler “wonderboy222” Goatcher after he won the PokerStars Hot $44 for $2,319.

UK-based Belgian Kenny “SpaceyFCB” Hallaert didn’t want those around him to win everything so he got in on the action too, coming out on top of the partypoker Sunday Bounty Hunter: $25K Gtd for $5,587. Hallaert also banked $8,808 for a fourth-place exit in the partypoker Sunday High Roller Terminator: $100K Gtd.

Mentions also have to go to Damien “DamoWain” Wain who netted $4,360 for his bridesmaid finish in the PokerStars Bigger $44, to “Picasso2” who won the PokerStars Hot $82 for $3,143 and to Jan “Bk0705” Naderzadeh who claimed $3,100 for a third-place finish in the Hot $215 at Pokerstars.

Tomas Geleziunas Closes Gap on Steve O’Dwyer

Tomas “luckymo32” Geleziunas has closed the gap on Ireland’s leader Steve “MrTimCaum” O’Dwyer after the latter took a short break from the virtual felt. Geleziunas won the Hot €50 over at for $2,206 and the €100 NL Hold’em 8-Max Turbo PKO GALACTIC event for more than $5,200.

Sven “SvenCalls” McDermott has entered the Irish top five followed a handful of impressive results. McDermott took down the partypoker Predator: $10K Gtd for $2,168 before finishing as the runner-up in the $30K Gtd Gladiator for $3,004, and winning the Sunday 6-Max Bounty Hunter Turbo for $5,806, also at partypoker. The Leitrim-based pro even found time to collect a bronze medal in the PokerStars Hotter $162 for $3,255.

There was a victory in the PokerStars Hot $5.50 for Dino “dinos662” Sabatini worth $1,384 while Johnathen “johnymcc” McCullagh helped himself to the $2,021 runner-up prize in the PokerStars Hot $11.

Shout out also to Kamal “AceOfShamrocks” Singh who banked almost $2,500 for his second-place finish in the PokerStars Big $55.
