Bobby James Wins Two MPN UCOP Events While Streaming
Bobby “The__BJP” James provided some positivity in an otherwise dark week for MPN by winning two Universal Championship Of Poker (UCOP) titles on the same day and while streaming his play live on Twitch.
James recently signed a deal with Betsafe that involves streaming his play at the Betsafe online poker tables. James was streaming on Twitch a few nights ago and fired up UCOP Event 27, an €11 buy-in rebuy tournament with €7,500 guaranteed.
Some 318 players took to the tables and created an €8,690 prize pool that was shared among the top 48 finishers. It was James who came out on top to secure the €1,792 prize live in front of his legion of fans.
Like most talented online poker players, James was playing on multiple tables with UCOP Event 28 - €10,000 Super Bounty going well for him. James found himself at the final table of the €110 buy-in event. Each elimination scored players €50 in addition to their main prize pool prize and James racked them up, finishing with a total of €2,523 (seven scalps) including that of “letsgonow” who James eliminated in second-place to bank a brace of UCOP titles in a single day.
Prizes include bounty payments
James’ run good spread to his Twitch followers too. A competition saw random Twitch followers win tournament ticket each time James won a Fish Party jackpot sit 7 go tournament. The player known as “Adrie7n” got their hands on three tickets and used them to enter UCOP 29 - €1,000 (1R1A). Adrie7n marched onto victory and turned their free tickets into €219.84 after defeating “Kris22King” heads-up for the title.
What Now For MPN and James’ Stream?
MPN announced it was closing down its online poker operations only a day after James’ impressive brace of victories. Rumours had been circulating that this would happen, but an email from MPN skin One Time Poker seemed to confirm them as true.
An official statement was released by MPN that read, “The decision follows an extensive internal review of the software supplier’s product portfolio and strategy, signalling the end of an award-winning network that has provided online poker players with unique and entertaining gaming experiences for more than 16 years.
In the run-up to the network closure, which will be fully detailed on the MPN blog in the coming weeks, access to online tournaments, promotions and cash games will remain available to players.”
UCOP Continues to Run
UCOP continues to run despite the aforementioned impending closure of the MPN poker rooms. It concludes on Sep. 29 and overlays are expected as players jump ship du to the uncertainty. This makes the €110 buy-in UCOP Main Event, with its €100,000 guarantee, on Sep. 29 at 5:00 p.m. BST even better value that it would have been ordinarily.
