UK & Ireland Sunday Briefing: Victories for Lindop and Brooks

Alex Lindop

Two of the United Kingdom’s prominent stars took down Sunday majors at PokerStars on Jun. 30 as some of their countrymen ground it out over in Las Vegas at the 2019 World Series of Poker.

WSOP bracelet winner Alex “Ahhh Is It?” Lindop was one of those players, emerging victoriously from the $109 Omania Weekend Special. Lindop topped a field of 278 entrants in the $109 buy-in event, eventually banking $4,855 after a heads-up deal with runner-up “jokkee_apart” of Norway. Lindop also finished fifth in the Hotter $215 for a $3,292 prize.

Lindop secured a WSOP bracelet at the 2015 series when he triumphed in the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em event, a result that also secured Lindop a career-best $531,037 in prize money.

Patrick Brooks has been in hot form of late and continued his purple patch with victory in the $215 Bounty Hunter, also at PokerStars. Brooks, known as “thebigdog09” at PokerStars, bulldozed his way to victory to lock up the $14,712 top prize and an additional $10,133 worth of bounty payments.

Brooks is currently ranked ninth in the UK online poker rankings and 78th in the world, and he now has almost $3.2 million in online poker tournament winnings.
