£100,000 Gtd GUKPT London Main Event Shuffles Up Jul. 4
It may be Independence Day for our American cousins on Jul. 4 but war will be raging at The Poker Room, formerly The Vic, because the 2019 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) London Main Event shuffles up and deals on this date.
London is always a popular poker destination, especially for the GUKPT. Now in its 13th season, the GUKPT always stops off in the British capital at least once, usually for a £200,000 guaranteed Main Event with a £1,000+ buy-in.
The stop has proven so popular with GUKPT’s customers that there has been a smaller buy-in London Main Event, with a £100,000 guaranteed prize pool, on its schedule since season 10.
Past £100,000 Gtd GUKPT London Winners
America’s Brett Kennedy won the inaugural £100,000 guaranteed GUKPT London Main Event. Hailing from Seattle, Kennedy topped a field of 419-entries to bank £45,470 after a heads-up deal with runner-up Nguyen Le who walked away with £50,000.
Whitechapel’s George Alexander was this leg’s champion during season 11. Alexander struck a deal when the tournament had been whittled from 449 players to the final three. It was a deal that saw third-place finisher Giulio Mascolo bank £34,400, runner-up Andrew Christoforou win £40,450 and Alexander pad his bankroll with £50,000.
Last year’s event attracted 358 players to the GUKPT branded tables and it was Patrik Szabo who emerged victoriously to secure the winner’s trophy and £49,150 which was his first recorded live tournament cash and his only one to date.
Players wishing to compete in this year’s GUKPT London main Event need to head to The Poker Room, formerly The Vic from 12:00 p.m. on Jul. 4 for the first of two starting flights. Day 1B commences at the same time on Jul. 5, with Day 2 and Day 3 also starting at noon sharp on consequent days.
Busting out of the Main Event is far from ideal but there are a couple of side events to get stuck into. Jul. 6 sees a £220 no limit hold’em affair with unlimited re-entries with a £110 no limit hold’em bounty hunter (£50 bounties) taking place from 4:00 p.m. on Jul. 7.
