UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings: WSOP Results in Quiet Week 0001

It was a relatively quiet week for online poker tournament players who call the United Kingdom and Ireland home as hundreds of players headed to Las Vegas with the 2019 World Series of Poker in full swing. This resulted in the online poker rankings, provided by PocketFives.com, remaining unchanged on the whole, although the UK did see a new name enter its top 20 standings.

“Picasso 2” debuted in the UK top 20 in 18th place. The psychology graduate from Stirling has amassed more than $1.5 million in cashes during his career with his recent results pushing him to 190th place in the world, an all-time high.

A seventh-place finish in the PokerStars $215 Sunday Warm-Up netted Picasso 2 a prize of $3,901 only a couple of weeks after securing the 16th five-figure score, one weighing in at more than $15,000, for finishing fourth in a $55 NLHE PKO SCOOP event at PokerStars.

The only change at the top of the leaderboard was Jonathan “proudflop” Proudfoot leapfrogging “girafganger7” into third position. The top three players in the UK’s rankings are currently grinding live in Las Vegas.

Tyler “wonderboy222” Goatcher is now pressing for a top 10 spot after a score of more than $13,000, his reward for a runner-up finish in a PokerStars $215 Bounty Builder. Goatcher also won a $109 NLHE 6-Max Hyper-Turbo for $3,044 and a Big $109 for $4,746 to cap off an impressive week.

Michael “mczhang” Zhang may have only secured four cashes this week but they tallied up to $9,621 while Andy “andyh26” Holman’s fourth-place finish in the PokerStars Hot $215 saw him lock up $2,156.

O’Dwyer Still Leads; Gives WSOP a Swerve

Steve “MrTimCaum” O’Dwyer is still the leader in Ireland and will likely extend his already substantial led after giving the 2019 WSOP a swerve. O’Dwyer traditionally stays at home during the WSOP and plays online poker tournaments, seemingly preferring only super high rollers in the live arena these days.

O’Dwyer helped himself to a score of more than $2,500 when he was the fifth-place finish in the $109 Bounty Builder, and collected $8,937 for his runner-up finish in the $530 Daily 500, also at PokerStars.

Dan “DatWillDoPig” Rankin jumped three places to 15th in Ireland following his victory in the PokerStars Hot $5.50 that won him $1,454 while Brendan “daehbonk” Naughton won the $27 Omania for $524 only a couple of days after finishing second in the $109 Omania Weekend Special for $3,498.
