UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings: Ben Jones Soars 17th in the World
Many of the top 20 ranked online poker tournament players from the United Kingdom and Ireland, provided by our friends at PocketFives.com, logged plenty of volume last week as they hoped for a big score to boost their World Series of Poker bankrolls. One such player was Ben “jenbizzle” Jones who climbed to second in the UK standings and a career-high of 17th in the world.
Jones has been riding a heater for a couple of months now and continued his impressive run by putting together a deep run in the PokerStars $10,300 SCOOP Main Event. Jones’ tournament ended in a 26th place finish that banked him $41,599 only a day after securing an $11,173 payout by finishing 14th in a $2,100 Sunday Warm-Up SCOOP edition.
The players around Jones also added decent prizes to their lifetime winnings. Current leader, Patrick “pleno1” Leonard, finished 11th in the partypoker KO Series #53-HR: $1M Gtd for a $13,545 payday while Jonathan “proudflop” Proudfoot hauled in four four-figure scores, including one worth $6,420.
Conor “1_conor_b_1” Beresford bubbled the final table of the $1,050 Sunday Supersonic at PokerStars for $8,651 with Chris “Moorman1” Moorman finishing third in the PokerStars $55 PLO SCOOP event for a $10,643 addition to his bankroll.
Shout-out to “Pendos90” who was the runner-up in the Hot $82 for $2,539 and won the Hot $55 for $4,905 both at PokerStars and to Michael “mzchang” Chang who hit top form again after a lengthy absence, and scooped almost $54,000 from three cashes, including a $27,412 prize for his 29th place finish in the $2 million guaranteed KO Series Championship Event at partypoker.
Damien “DamienWain” Wain returned to the top 20 this week after several deep runs at PokerStars. It was his score of more than $20,000 in the $530 Bounty Builder High Roller that was the highlight of the past seven days.
A warm welcome to the limelight to “Z-ENERGIES” whose $79,940 prize in the SCOOP edition of the Sunday Warm-Up was followed by $15,824 score in the $1,050 SCOOP Main Event and then a $10,381 prize for finishing third in the Hotter $215. Z-ENERGIES now has more than $1.6 million in winnings from partypoker and PokerStars.
The player of the week, however, was none other than UK-based Belgian Kenny “SpaceyFCB” Hallaert. A couple of weeks ago, Hallaert won $92,990 for his largest-ever online cash. Last week, Hallaert banked a massive $193,378 by finish second in the $2 million guaranteed KO Series Championship Event at partypoker, a result that saw him climb to seventh in the UK.
