UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings: Sam Grafton Returns to Top 20

Sam Grafton

Sam “TheSquid” Grafton has returned to the top 20 of the United Kingdom online poker rankings, provided by PocketFives.com, thanks in part to two big score during April.

Grafton gave his points tally a massive boost on Apr. 15 when he finished fifth in the partypoker POWERFEST $1M Gtd Championship Event. It was a result that saw Grafton add $65,175 to his bankroll and more than 400 points to his PocketFives profile.

The popular grinder then won a $530 Bounty Builder High Roller at PokerStars for more than $30,000 and added four more four-figure prizes to his bankroll. Grafton now occupied 19th place in the UK and 174th place in the world, some way of a career-best 40th in the world but on this form Grafton could easily soar up the leaderboard.

Almost all the players currently ranked in the top 10 helped themselves to big scores during the past seven days, meaning the standings are similar to last week’s.

Current leader “girafganger7” took down the PokerStars $530 Bounty Builder High Roller for more than $30,000 while Patrick “pleno1” Leonard was crowned champion of the partypoker Sunday High Roller Gladiator: $250K Gtd and that accolade came with a $47,421 prize.

Jonathan “proudflop” Proudfoot won a $75K Gtd Gladiator at partypoker for a $16,120 addition to his bankroll while Ben “jenbizzle” Jones continued his impressive run of form with two five-figure hauls. Jones was the runner-up in the PokerStars $215 Fast Friday for $11,153 then went on to win the $1,050 Sunday Warm-Up at PokerStars for more than $50,000 although that second result came too late to be added to this week’s standings.

Scott “Aggro Santos” Margereson is no stranger to winning big online as is evident by the string of five-figure prizes adorning his profile. His latest big scores include a $15,153 prize for finishing sixth in the PokerStars $2,100 Sunday High Roller, $24,853 for winning the $1,050 Monday 6-Max at PokerStars and he also secured a $2,100 Sunday High Roller title on Apr. 28 for $47,930 but, like Jones’ large haul, will have to be added to his profile next week.

Mentions also have to go to Patrick “thebigdog09” Brooks and “Pendos90” as they secured titles last week. Brooks won the $30K Gtd Terminator at partypoker for $4,715 with Pendos90 turning $215 into $5,462 by winning the PokerStars Hot $215.

$5.8K Score For Kevin Killeen

The Irish rankings are almost identical to the previous week’s standings with Steve “MrTimCaum” O’Dwyer leading the way by a considerable margin. O’Dwyer increased his lead by helping himself to a $6,143 and $4,421 score in two $2,100 high roller tournaments held at PokerStars.

Current number six, Kevin “SuitedAcesBaby” Killeen managed to get his hands on a $5,847 prize when he navigated his way to a fifth-place finish in the $80,000 guaranteed Bigger $215 at PokerStars.

Finding themselves in the winners circle this week were James “Jaymo” Noonan and Matthew “flukeybob” Brady. Noonan topped a field of 146-entries in the PokerStars.fr Hot €50 for a €1,464 prize while Brady triumphed in the $16.50 Bounty Builder to walk away with more than $3,000.

Shout out also to Brendan “daehbonk” Naughton whose third-place finish in the PokerStars Big $11 saw him add $1,737 to his lifetime winnings, which now stand at more than $278,000.
