UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings: Leonard Back in Top Spot in the UK
It has been quite a phenomenal week for the top 20 ranked online poker tournament players who call the United Kingdom home, with several of them banking massive prizes to shake up the standings, which are provided by PocketFives.com.
Patrick “pleno1” Leonard, the former world number one, has risen to top spot in the UK following some remarkable results at the virtual felt. The partypoker pro got things underway with a victory in a $300K Gtd KO Series event for $61,675 and followed that up one day later with an $18,399 and $28,675 score. Leonard wasn’t finished there because he won another KO Series event for $49,738 before finishing second a H.O.R.S.E. event at PokerStars during the SCOOP festival for $12,208. These results saw Leonard claim to first place in the UK and fourth in the world.
Currently occupying third spot in the UK is Conor “1_conor_b_1_ Beresford. The young grinder went deep in a $5,200 buy-in KO Series Championship Event at partypoker for $27,169 and then finished third in a $109 NLHE 8-Max SCOOP at PokerStars for an additional $36,653. Throw into the mix a $33,579 prize and a $36,281 score and you can see why UK & PokerNews rates Beresford so highly.
It wasn’t only Leonard and Beresford winning big because Jonathan “proudflop” Proudfoot got in on the action too. Third place in a $50 buy-in SCOOP netted Proudfoot $46,907 before he triumphed in a $530+R SCOOP event for $115,639, the third largest cash of his online career.
Ben “jenbizzle” Jones also had a profitable week at the felt thanks in part to a $35,075 haul from his third place finish in a $500K Gtd KO Series event at partypoker plus almost a dozen four-figure prizes. It was a similar story for Jamie “EzGame89” O’Connor whose biggest prize of the past week weighed in at $33,538, his reward for taking down the opening event of the partypoker KO Series.
Three familiar faces find themselves back in the UK top 20 after some superb results. Kenny “SpaceyFCB” Hallaert finds himself in 13th place thanks partly to a $12,500 and $15,002 prize, while Mustapha “lasagnaaammm” Kanit returns to 19th place following three five-figure prizes worth a combined $63,749.
Also back in the limelight is Sergio “zcedrick” Aido after winning $82,481 for his fourth place finish in the SCOOP edition of the $2,100 Sunday High Roller.
Shout out to Sam “TheSquid” Grafton who jumped four places to 16th after a $31,085, a $22,130 and a $10,113 payday.
