UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings: A Week of Big Results

  • Players from the UK & Ireland enjoyed plenty of big scores as the race for the number one spot in the rankings intensified.

There were dozens of big scores enjoyed by players from the United Kingdom and Ireland last week, but they didn’t influence the UK & Ireland online poker rankings, provided by, as much as you would have imagined.

UK-based Belgian “girafganger7” remained on top of the UK standings after a trio of five-figure scores. $10,220 was awarded to girafganger7 when they finished second in the GG Poker Blade $1K and they picked up another $10,466 for a second-place finish in the partypoker High Roller Bounty Hunter: $50K Gtd. The biggest score, however, weighed in at $42,351 after they won the partypoker Sunday High Roller Bounty Hunter Fast: $200K Gtd.

Patrick “pleno1” Leonard remained in second-place in the UK despite finishing third in the partypoker Sunday High Roller Bounty Hunter: $250K Gtd for $18,407 and finishing third in the $75K Gtd Gladiator, a result worth $5,238.

Former UK number one and current number three Conor “1_conor_b_1” Beresford kept tabs on the leaders with an impressive $25,695 haul awarded for winning the partypoker High Roller Bounty Hunter: $100K Gtd. Beresford enjoyed a superb week that included securing scores of $14,082, $10,932 and one worth $26,238 his reward for a fourth-place finish in the PokerStars $2,100 Sunday High Roller.

Both Patrick “thebigdog09” Brooks and Paul “Senterpied” Senter got in the act with several four-figure scores, as did Owain “sngwonder” Carey who netted more than $20,000 courtesy of five partypoker final tables between Mar. 3-4.

Andy “andyh26” Holman locked up an $18,544 score for winning the PokerStars Bigger $215 but the biggest haul was one worth $84,435 awarded to Jamie “EzGame89” O’Connor after he won the $530 Bounty Builder High Roller at PokerStars.

Ronan Sweeney Closes Gap, Slightly, at the top of the Irish Rankings

Ronan “Sw33ney” Sweeney slightly closed the gap at the top of the Irish rankings with several four-figure scores and one worth more than $11,000. Sweeney won six tournaments last week, including the partypoker Gladiator: $50K Gtd that banked him $11,216 including bounties.

The former Irish number one Dan “NukeTheFish!” Wilson locked up $7,992 for his runner-up finish in the PokerStars $530 Daily 500, before winning almost $3,000 for a ninth-place finish in the Sunday edition of the same tournament.

Sean “monkeybudgie” Prendiville walked away with more than $16,000 courtesy of finishing second in the PokerStars $215 Bounty Builder while Aidan “aidohynes” Hynes’ victory in the partypoker PLO Bounty Hunter: $6K Gtd saw $2,407 added to his bankroll.

A third-place finish in the partypoker Clasico: $25K Gtd saw Darren “riverbuck” Brennan secure a $2,350 prize while Matthew “flukeybob” Brady returned to the Irish top 20 on the back of his victory in the PokerStars $7.50 Bounty Builder that was worth more than $2,200.

Another new face in the Irish rankings this week is that of Rory “Reesy” Rees who shot up to 18th place thanks to an $8,073 haul for finishing second in the PokerStars $530 Omania High Roller and an $8,880 prize for winning the PokerStars $530 Omania High Roller two days later.
