UK & Ireland Sunday Briefing: Proudfoot Wins Sunday 500

  • Jonathan Proudfoot won the PokerStars Sunday 500 and reached the final table of a partypoker PKO on Sep. 30.

Jonathan “Proudflop” Proudfoot triumphed in the PokerStars Sunday 500 on Sept. 30 and won more than $26,000.

Proudfoot was one of 273 entrants in the $530 buy-in tournament that is considered to be one of online’s toughest fields. The quality of the opposition didn’t phase Proudfoot, however, as he marched on to victory to get his hands on $26,030. He defeated Canada’s “jays94” heads-up for the title, resigning his Canadian opponent to a $19,359 consolation prize.

Also at PokerStars, two players sporting Union Jacks next to their aliases reached the final table of the $215 Sunday Warm-Up. Every blogger’s nightmare, the player known as “hdjgfkgsdl” finished in eighth-place for $3,426 with “tua133” banking $4,766 for their seventh-place finish.

Some of the other notable cashes at PokerStars by players from the UK and Ireland included:

  • Jack “_JMCD_89” McDermott - second-place in the $22 Mini Sunday Million for $16,474
  • “Merfinis” - first-place in the Hotter $22 for $11,998
  • “thehushpuppy” - fifth-place in the $215 Bounty Builder for $7,950*
  • “chrispkr23” - first-place in the $109 Sunday KOmania for $6,108*
  • “chrispkr23” - fifth-place in the $530 Omania High Roller for $5,580
  • “Pak_Hero” - fifth-place in the $109 Sunday Cooldown for $5,518
  • “TheRabbitFR” - first-place in the $109 Sunday KOmania for $5,118*
  • “Ben_Apart” - sixth-place in the $530 Omania High Roller for $4,478
  • “dragonwarior” - sixth-place in the Bigger $109 for $4,467
  • “Mokers” - second-place in the $109 Omania for $3,913
  • Wes “wesko78” Farrell - third-place in the Hotter $162 for $3,715
  • “Legadzo” - seventh-place in the $109 Sunday Kickoff for $1,985
  • Nayeem “dancingbudha” Syed - fourth-place in the Bigger $109 for $1,741
  • “LintyontheLash” - sixth-place in the Hotter $162 for $1,500
  • “alter2925” - seventh-place in the Hotter $162 for $1,108

After earlier winning a PokerStars major, Jonathan “proudflop” Proudfoot almost took down a partypoker event, but ran out of steam at the final table and bust in fourth-place. Proudfoot collected $3,187 plus $295 worth of bounties from the Sunday Bounty Hunter High Roller 6-Max event.

Another player cashing in a partypoker PKO tournament was Conor “ADRIEN_BRODY” Beresford who was the fifth-place finisher in the $215 Sunday Bounty Hunter. Beresford scored a combined $2,630.

Chris “Therealmoorm” Moorman turned $55 into $4,595 by finishing second in the Sunday BIG Rebuy. partypoker has recently introduced some rebuy tournaments to its schedule, following player feedback, and this $55 buy-in event saw 224 entrants prichase 248 rebuys and 149 add-ons.

There were trio of British players at the final table of the 888poker $50,000 Whale, although only two of them were paid due to only six places receiving prize money.

“Mr. McMark777” crashed out in eighth-place and went home empty handed, with “radasahk” taking home $10,200 for their third-place finish. “Dioszilla” was the tournament’s runner-up and netted $17,000.
