Serkan Ersoy of Turkey bagged up the most chips when the curtain came down on the Day 1a action. Ersoy finished the day with 4,830,000 chips and looks set to continue an impressive start to his poker career.

According to Ersoy’s Hendon Mob profile, the Turkish national has four live poker tournament cashes to his name, the first coming in Feb. 2018. Two of those four cashes have been victories in tournaments held in Cyprus, can he make it four victories from five cashes?

Romania’s Florin Sucala was the only other player to bag up more than 4 million chips, ending the night cramming 4,085,000 worth of betting tokens into his plastic bag.

There are some excellent poker players among the 18 survivors. Simon Higgins ended Day 1a armed with 3,840,000 chips, enough for third-place on the overnight leaderboard, while Ben Dobson bagged and tagged 1,780,000 chips. You may recall Dobson won his first World Series of Poker bracelet this summer when he triumphed in the $1,500 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo event.

Also safely through to Day 2 are Triple Crown winner Niall Farrell (1,550,000), Paul Newey (1,360,000) and another WSOP bracelet winner in Alex Lindop (765,000).

UK & Ireland PokerNews would expect some of the Day 1a bustees to take another bite at the £5 million cherry on Day 1b. Max Silver’s starting flight didn’t exactly go to plan and we can’t see him not firing another bullet.

The same can be said of Sweden’s Rifat Palevic who fired two Day 1a bullets and missed the target with each.

Paul Dando and Irish legend Andy Black will also likely return, as will partypoker pro Sam Trickett who busted on Day 1a when his {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} failed to get their against pocket aces when all the chips piled in on a {7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} flop.Trickett decided against re-entering as he was feeling under the weather; there’s no chance he won’t return to the fray at some point, poorly or not.

Day 1b kicks off at 12:00 p.m. on Oct. 2 with the third and final starting flight shuffling up and dealing at the same time on Oct. 3. It is also possible to buy in at the start of Day 2 so there’s plenty of time to get bums on seats and boost the prize pool towards its lofty £5 million guarantee.

Those of you looking to get into the Main Event on the cheap can get involved in the live Mega Satellites at Dusk Till Dawn There £550 buy-in satellites take place at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Oct. 2 and have 30 seats guaranteed, with a further 10 seats guaranteed in each of the Mega Satellites that take place at the same times on Oct. 3.
