UK & Ireland Sunday Briefing: Luke Reeves Wins Big

Luke “Bit2Easy” Reeves was one of the biggest online poker tournament winners on Sept. 16 after he emerged victorious from the WCOOP-55-H: $5,200 NLHE 8-Max PKO event at PokerStars.

Reeves was one of 203 players to enter the $5,200 buy-in event who helped created a $1,015,000 prize pool that was more than twice the $500,000 guarantee PokerStars placed on it. Reeves fellow Brits Elior “Crazy Elior” Sion and Scott “Aggro Santos” Margereson fell in 14th and 10th place respectively, but Reeves managed to navigate his way to a first-place finish worth a cool $219,741.

This huge prize was made up of a $99,312 first-place prize and $120,429 worth of bounties.

Another British star who won big on Sept. 16 was Benny “RunGodlike” Glaser who finished fifth in the WCOOP-54-H: $10,300 8-Game High Roller. Mixed game specialist Glaser won $56,250 for his fifth-place finish with “aaron8” narrowly missing out on a final table appearance by finishing eighth for $30,000.

Some of the other notable results from PokerStars’ tournaments included:

  • “deivid29” – fourth-place in the WCOOP-55-M: $530 NLHE 8-Max Turbo PKO for $29,731*
  • Scott “Aggro Santos” Margereson – fourth-place in the $2,100 Sunday High Roller for $19,558
  • Richard “raconteur” Gryko – first-place in the $530 Omania High Roller for $13,360
  • “SaiyanHype” – fourth-place in the $215 Sunday Supersonic for $12,409
  • “banana99” – second-place in the Hotter $162 for $9,412
  • “BeatZer0” – fifth-place in the $109 Bounty Builder for $9,156
  • “T-Macha” – fifth-place in the Bigger $109 for $7,996
  • “SRJ16” – fourth-place finish in the WCOOP-54-L: $109 8-Game High Roller for $6,448
  • “koeo10000” – eighth-place in the $530 Bounty Builder High Roller for $6,283*
  • Billy “b8chatz” Chattaway – fifth-place in the $109 Sunday Cooldown for $5,656
  • “AlcatrazRun” – ninth-place in the $530 Bounty Builder High Roller for $5,645*
  • “millwall1986” – fifth-place in the WCOOP-54-L: $109 8-Game High Roller for $4,255
  • “S1LVERBACK J” – seventh-place in the Bigger $109 for $4,063
  • Harry “Iamapoopie” Lodge – first-place in the $109 Bubble Rush for $3,657
  • Sam “fozamon” Foster – third-place in the Bigger $109 for $3,439

Over at 888poker, “f0rmEiTseGaL” finished second in the $50,000 Whale and took home $13,770 while “EZ.PZ” banked $1,200 by finishing seventh in the $30,000 Sunday Challenge.

Completing this week’s Sunday Briefing are the results from partypoker where Patrick “dotcotton1939” Brooks finished third in the POWERFEST #094-HR: $500K Gtd PKO Deep for $29,083 plus $8,125 from the bounty prize pool.

Team partypoker’s Roberto “WelshWizard” Romanello finished ninth in the POWERFEST #095-SHR: $1M Gtd Championship Event for a $24,180 score while Ben “bfzhang” Farrell turned $1,050 into $22,781 plus $11,480 worth of bounties in the POWERFEST #097-HR: $1M Gtd Championship Event PKO. Romanello also finished fourth in the POWERFEST #099-HR: $200K Fast Mix-Max PKO for $7,900 and $4,852.

Andy “TheScouse_AA” Aspinall became a POWERFEST champion when he triumphed over 2,547 opponents in the POWERFEST #097-H: $500K Gtd PKO for a $41,182 score plus an additional $22,660 worth of bounties.
