UK & Ireland Sunday Briefing: Michael Zhang Crushes Super High Roller

Michael Zhang

Michael Chi Zhang recently secured the largest cash of his career when he won the €50,000 Super High Roller at the partypoker MILLIONS Germany festival in Rozvadov for €800,000. Zhang showed that he can also work his magic in the online arena on Apr. 29 by winning the partypoker Super Sunday Super High Roller.

Zhang won the $2,600 Super High Roller at partypoker a couple of weeks ago and has now secured his second title. Eighty-one players exchanged $2,600 for 100,000 chips and the chance to win $53,662, but it was Zhang who was the last man standing and who got his hands on the sizeable prize.

Team partypoker’s Roberto “WelshWizard” Romanello joined Zhang at the final table. The Welshman bust in sixth-place for a $10,631 score.

Patrick “Patrick_Leonard” Leonard, another member of Team partypoker, reached the final table of the partypoker Super Sunday Second Chance. His fourth-place finish saw him turn $215 into $5,635. Leonard outlasted Daniel “ROTTsFEARestFC” Charlton by one place; Charlton’s fifth-place finish was worth $4,101.

Charlton, whose partypoker alias is borderline genius, finished seventh in the Super Sunday Americas Main Event for an additional $728.

Over to PokerStars now where Zhang reached the final table of the Sunday High Roller, a $2,100 buy-in event that attracted 110 players. Zhang outlasted almost everyone but fell short of the victory, finishing in sixth-place for $12,195. Fellow Brit “Mad4it4life” was the tournament’s runner-up and picked up $37,939.

“don dukeio” won the Bigger $109 for $27,372, the same tournament that “BigTurtle11” finished ninth in for a $1,824 addition to their bankroll. Some of the other notable PokerStars wins and cashes on Apr. 29 included:
