Gareth Gardner Wins PokerStars Live London Series

Gareth Gardner had a weekend to remember thanks to him triumphing in the PokerStars Live London Series event at The Hippodrome, a result that netted him more than £13,000 in cash and a Platinum Pass to the 2019 PokerStars Players Championship worth $30,000.
Gardner’s previous largest cash weighed in at £350, his reward for winning a £25 buy-in tournament in Newcastle in 2015. Gardner can now boast of a five-figure score and could be bragging of a seven-figure score if the PokerStars Players Championship goes to plan.

The eliminations came in thick and fast with George Wyatt being the first casualty of the nine-handed final table. Dominic Wells, Ben Phillips, Johnny Wu, Tiberiu Benea, Joe Field and Alberto Horvath fared a little better than Wyatt but still ultimately fell short of winning.
Gardner locked horns heads-up with [Removed:30], a former professional footballer who played 175 times for Reading along with making appearances for Crystal Palace and Leeds United along with Mali at international level.
Both Kebe and Gardner struck an ICM deal to flatten the payouts and left the $30,000 Platinum Pass on the table to play for. Kebe immediately took the chip lead and led by almost seven-to-one at one stage. Gardner, however, fought back and chipped away at Kebe’s massive stack before drawing even and then taking the lead for himself. There was no looking back for Gardner from that point on and he emerged a worthy winner.
Speaking to the PokerStars Blog about winning a package to the PSPC, Gardner said, “It’s the stuff of dreams really. I’m going to go there fearless and who knows what could happen.”
