UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings: Two New Names in UK Top 20

UK & Ireland online poker rankings

Our friends at PocketFives.com have updated their online poker rankings and the update has resulted in two new names in the top 20 of the United Kingdom’s standings.

One of the new names is more of a returning name because it is that of Kenny “SpaceFCB” Hallaert. The talented Belgian disappeared from the rankings altogether a month or so ago and has now returned as the number three in the UK.

Hallaert enjoyed a brace of final tables at partypoker: he finished second in the $50K Gtd Main Event Kick-Off for $6,710 and was the third-place finisher in the $20K Gtd Uppercut Turbo for $2,400. Hallaert also finished 10th in the PokerStars $2,100 Sunday High Roller for a $5,000 score.

Charlie “chaz_man_chaz” Combes climbed to fourth-place this week thanks in part to a third-place finish in the PokerStars Hotter $215 that netted him $9,598 and saw Combes’ lifetime winnings break through the $6.6 million barrier. Combes leapfrogged Jonathan “proudflop” Proudfoot as the latter has spent the past week in the Czech Republic playing at the PokerStars Championship Prague series.

Despite two four-figure scores, Owain “sngwonder” Carey remained in sixth-place. Carey won more than $4,704 by taking down the $55 Bounty Builder at PokerStars and then finished as runner-up in the $109 PLO Omania Weekend Special at the same site for an additional $4,767.

Another player enjoying some recent success is the man known Javier “que_te_crio” Fernandez Alonso. The UK-based Spaniard reached final tables for fun last week, including a third-place finish in the PokerStars Hot $109 worth $4,382. Alonso navigated his way to the top couple of spots of several other events, however, they came too late to be included in this week’s update so expect him to soar up the rankings next week.

Nicholas “Liftededge” Todd continued to tear up the partypoker tables this week. Several final appearances, including a win in the $10K Gtd Uppercut Kick-Off for $3,380 and a sixth-place finish in the $40K Gtd High Roller for $2,528 helped him climb one place to 15th.

Finally, the second new name in the rankings is that of “fatboi” who may be better-known by his PokerStars alias “flong78”. A victory in the $2,100 Sunday High Roller added $47,398 to his lifetime winnings and helped to propel him to 17th in the UK and 131 in the worldwide standings.

O’Kearney Back on Top in Ireland

Dara “Doke” O’Kearney has returned to the top of the Irish online poker rankings after the latest update. O’Kearney’s return to the summit is on the back of his deep run in the half price Sunday Million at PokerStars where he finished 12th for $9,369 and his victory in the Big $11 for $5,610, also at PokerStars.

These results have help push O’Kearney to 259th in the world, only 29 spots behind his best-ever position.

Daniel “danielt999” Tighe may not have improved his place on the Irish leaderboard, but he did have a solid week at the PokerStars virtual felt. Tight won both the $82 NLO8 6-Max Hyper-Turbo for $1,338 and the $215 PLO8 Omania High Roller for $3,993 in addition to finishing third in the $55 Daily Marathon for $3,297 and busting from the Daily 500 in sixth-place for $3,757. Tighe is now less than $38,000 away from $1.5 million in online winnings.

Slightly further down the rankings, in ninth-place, is Keith “TheImprover” Cummins. The Killarney pro enjoyed two runner-up finishes at partypoker. One was in the $10K Gtd High Roller Mini Kick-Off for $1,450 and the other in the $10K Gtd Eliminator Kick-Off for $2,500.

Rounding out the top 10 is Conor “ccoonnoorr” O’Driscoll who won The Polinikis Open at PokerStars for $1,101 and the $15,000 Daily Challenge at 888poker for $3,135.
