UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings: Leonard Closes the Gap

Patrick Leonard

Conor “1_conor_b_1” Beresford is still the number one ranked online poker tournament player in the United Kingdom, according to, but partypoker ambassador Patrick “pleno1” Leonard has closed the gap on him.

Beresford took some time away from the virtual felt to compete at the partypoker LIVE Caribbean Poker Party while Leonard stayed home. This meant Beresford didn’t record any cashes online, but Leonard won the Eliminator Warm Up at partypoker for $3,965. Leonard also finished sixth in the $2,100 NLHE High Rollers event at PokerStars for $42,651 although this cash came too late to be added to this week’s points update.

Charlie “chaz_man_chaz” Combes climbed one place to fififth-placeis fifth place finish in the PokerStars Daily 500 that netted him $5,280; Combes also won the $50K Gtd High Roller at partypoker for $12,171 but, like Leonard’s big score, it came too late to count towards this week’s rankings.

The player known as “carpediem200” was in the winner’s circle this week courtesy of triumphing in the Uppercut Warm Up at partypoker for $4,302 and Owain “sngwonder” Carey continued to get it quietly by finishing third in the Big $55 for $3,301 and then winning the same tournament two days later for $6,944, both at PokerStars.

Another grinder boosting their bankroll this week was Sam “TheSquid” Grafton who banked $2,103 for finishing fourth in the PokerStars Big $215 and then collected $9,171 by being the runner-up in the PokerStars $33+R Sunday Rebuy.

Last week’s newcomer, David “clarkson7” Clarkson added $5,910 to his lifetime winnings thanks to a seventh place finish in the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up, while Matthew “eardleym” Eardley continued to grind his heart out at partypoker and ended up with a trio of third place finishes and a win in the $20K Gtd Eliminator, that last result securing a $4,986 payday.
