UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings: David Clarkson Hits Top 20

David Clarkson

London’s David “Clarkson7” Clarkson may be better known for his cash game prowess, but the talented all-rounder is also a dab hand at online poker tournaments, too.

Clarkson entered the United Kingdom online poker tournament rankings this week after updated its vast database. Clarkson jumped into 19th place at the last update, partly because of an eighth-place finish in the partypoker $100K Gtd Uppercut, which was worth $1,390. The rankings’ newcomer could climb higher at the next update because he recently finished seventh in the PokerStars $215 Sunday Warm-Up for $5,910 in cash and 158.52 ranking points.

Sitting pretty at the top of the standings is Conor “1_conor_b_1” Beresford. In fact, Beresford now has a 750 point cushion between himself and the chasing pack. At the top of the list of players pursuing Beresford is the partypoker ambassador Patrick Leonard. It has been a quiet week for Leonard who tweeted that he was busy with projects, so busy he was missing the 2017 Caribbean Poker Party.

One player enjoying a great run at the virtual felt is Charlie “chaz_man_chaz” Combes who finished second in the $530 Bounty Builder High Roller for $16,961 and then third in the Super Tuesday for $31,727, both at PokerStars. The points earned from those games have pushed Combes into sixth-place.

Jonathan “proudflop” Proudfoot is also in good form having finished third in the PokerStars Daily 500 for $9,707 and second in the Big $109 for $6,651 before busting from the Super Tuesday in eighth-place for an additional $7,195. Proudfoot is now ranked 56th in the world, his highest ever position.

A shout out has to go to Owain “sngwonder” Carey who win the PokerStars Big $55 for $7,137 and then finished fourth in the same event a day later for a $2,555 score, and to Sam “TheSquid” Grafton who bust from the PokerStars Daily 500 in third-place for $12,610 and won the 888poker $8,000 Lightning 6-Max for $2,960.

Lastly for the UK round-up, a doff of the cap to the player known as Javier “que_te_crio” Fernandez Alonso. The UK-based Spaniard should return to the UK top 10 once the points from the following events are added to his profile:

  • Third-place in the PokerStars Hot $109 for $4,382
  • Second-place in the PokerStars $44 NLHE Turbo PKO for $985
  • Third-place in the 888poker $10,000 Tornado for $1,428
  • Second-place in the partypoker Uppercut Special Edition for $7,182
  • Second place in the PokerStars Hot $109 for $5,437
  • Second-place in the partypoker Uppercut Kick-Off for $2,412

It’s Tight at the Top in Ireland

Last week, Ireland had a new number one ranked player when Dara “Doke” O’Kearney climbed to the top of the rankings. This week, O’Kearney finds himself in fifth-place albeit only 100 points from the summit of the leaderboards.

O’Kearney predicted that Dan “NukeTheFish!” Wilson, who had been on vacation, would reclaim top spot and that is exactly what happened. Wilson helped himself to the $3,275 seventh-place prize in the PokerStars Daily 500 and was the third-place finisher in the 888poker $10,000 Crocodile for $1,845.

Daniel “danielt999” Tighe found himself in the winner’s circle last week, taking down the PokerStars $215 NLHE Turbo for $4,171 and also winning the $530 Bounty Builder High Roller for a cool $16,451. Tighe has now climbed to seventh in the Irish rankings.

Before we go, we have to mention the brace of wins for Dan “DatWIllDoPig” Rankin. At PokerStars, Rankin won the $16.50 NLHE 6-Max Hyper Turbo for $1,564 and a day later won the $16.50 NLHE 8-Max Turbo for an additional $1,121.
