UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings: WSOP Causes a Quiet Week

  • Conor Beresford and Toby Joyce retain the number one spot in the UK & Ireland online poker rankings.

It was a relatively quiet week in the online poker thanks in part to the 2017 World Series of Poker being in full swing. A large percentage of the PocketFives.com online poker rankings are currently in Las Vegas for the WSOP, but there are a handful of our current crop of stars who have remained on home soil to battle it out online.

The player known as “luckyfish89” has climbed to eighth place, from ninth, after a deep run in the PokerStars Super Tuesday. Luckyfish89 finished in 13th place and took home $4,820.

Another player on the rise is Oliver “ThreeBunPass” Price courtesy of his third-place finish in the partypoker Super High Roller. Price, a former Sunday Million champion, collected $21,520 for his $2,600 investment.

Two familiar faces returned to the UK top 20 this week, those players being Jamie “EzGame89” O’Connor and Rick “TheClaimer” Trigg. O’Connor claimed 19th spot after a string of cashes including a runner-up finish in the PokerStars Big $215 while Trigg returned to 20th place on the back of winning a $109 NLHE 6-Max Progressive KO at PokerStars for $2,473.

Joyce Extends Lead in Ireland

Toby “Jobytoyce” Joyce has extended his lead at the top of the Irish rankings in what was otherwise a quiet week for grinders from Ireland.

The Irish top 20 is almost the same as last week, with the only differences being “FoxyLisa” climbing one place to fifth and Jason “blaaaaaaah666” Tompkins moving up two places to 16th.

Joyce won the Top50 tournament at Winamax for $8,614 and this was added to his points tally at the last rankings update. That result netted him more than 200 points, meaning the 80.31 points James “Jaymo” Noonan acquired for winning the 888poker $5,000 Thunder 6-Max were not enough to see Noonan claim top spot this week.

Third-placed Dan “NukeTheFish!” Wilson enjoyed a handful of final table appearances over the past week. A third-place finish in the Hot $44 for $2,189 and a win in the $82 NLHE 6-Max Turbo Progressive KO for $1,399, both at PokerStars, were Wilson’s highlights.

Special mentions also to Kevin “SuitedAcesBaby” Killeen who won a $27 NLHE Deep Stacks tournament at PokerStars for $1,790, to Conor “ccoonnoorr” O’Driscoll who won two PokerStars tournaments for combined scores of more than $2,000 and to the aforementioned Tompkins who won a $5,000 Thunder 6-Max at 888poker for $1,635.
