GUKPT Returns to the Capital for £100,000 Guaranteed Main Event
The Grosvenor UK Poker Tour has returned to the English capital for the sixth leg of its 2017 tour. Three side events are already in the bag, but there is still the £100,000 guaranteed Main Event and four more tournaments for players to get stuck into.
It is the Poker Room formerly known as The Vic that hosts the GUKPT London festival, which is one of the more popular destinations the GUKPT heads each year. Last June, 419 players bought in for £550 and more than doubled the £100,000 guarantee by creating a £209,500 prize pool.
On that day it was the U.S.A born grinder Brett Kennedy who emerged victorious and who got his hands on £45,470 after a heads-up deal with Nguyen Le, who collected £50,000. Despite the 2017 World Series of Poker being in full flow in Las Vegas, the 2017 edition of the GUKPT London Main Event is expected to attract similar numbers.

The 2017 GUKPT Results So Far
Five of the scheduled nine legs on the 2017 GUKPT, 10 if you include the season-ending Grand Final, have crowned their champions this year.
Michael Zhang triumphed in the first leg at the Poker Room formerly The Vic when he outlasted 435 opponents to turn his £1,100 into a most impressive £113,000. Leg 2 saw another £1,100 buy-in event take place, this one at the Grosvenor Casino Bury New Road in Manchester. Andrew Hills came out on top of that tournament and walked away with £46,988 after a four-way deal involving Tuan Le, Mark Dyson and Endrit Geci.
The third leg of the tour saw 227 players compete for a share of £100,000 in Edinburgh. Like in Manchester, the £550 Edinburgh Main Event ended in a four-handed chop of the prize pool with fourth-placed Colin Wu banking the largest prize of £24,000. Mark Firth and Ian Swan collected £17,000 and Paul Green, the eventual champion, boosted his bankroll by £17,500.
Walsall then played host to the fourth leg of the 2017 tour and 238 entrants created a £119,000 prize pool. Gareth Howard became the tournament’s champion after defeating Ali Mallu heads-up. The final two players struck a deal that locked up £27,705 for Mallu and £28,845 for Howard.
After finishing as the bridesmaid in Walsall, Mallu then took down the £550 GUKPT Reading Main Event for a £35,310 score.
