UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings: Wins Galore For UK and Irish Players

The current year may be drawing to a close but the online poker tournament specialists from the United Kingdom and Ireland are showing no signs of slowing down with several of them booking fantastic weeks at the virtual felt.

Patrick Leonard is still the UK’s number one, according to the PocketFives.com system, and he extended his lead at the top of the pile by winning the Hot $109 at PokerStars for $18,841. Leonard is currently eighth in the worldwide standings, but has been ranked as highly as best in the world.

Up to fourth place in the UK is Phil Mighall who jumps one place on the back of a brace of runner-up finishes. Mighall finished second in the Hot $215 for $13,174 and in the Omania High Roller for $5,637 and is now within touching distance of third-placed Ludovic Geilich.

Popular pro Sam Grafton continues to impress with a brace of wins and a third-place finish worth more than $30,000 combined. Grafton won a €3,000 guaranteed tournament at bet365 Poker for $992 and also a $16.50 NLHE 6-Max Hyper Turbo at PokerStars for $1,375. His biggest score of the past seven days weighed in at $28,050, his reward for finishing third in the partypoker $300,000 guaranteed Title Fight.

Owain Carey climbed six places to 12th in the UK following two victories and two third-places in the space of two days. Carey finished third in the Omania $55 PLO 6-Max at PokerStars for $1,154 and in the $5,000 Gtd PLO 6-Max at partypoker for $650 before winning both the $109 Omania 6-Max at PokerStars for $5,249 and the $40,000 Gtd Uppercut at Partypoker for $7,075.

Lastly for the UK, Daniel Carter returned to the top 20 with a win in the PokerStars Hot $162 for $5,844 and could climb higher once his win in the partypoker $50,000 Gtd High Roller for $14,625 is added to his PocketFives profile.

Big Scores For the Irish Top Three

Daniel Wilson continues to dominate the Irish standings and has climbed to a career-high 57th in the world following his $11,158 score in the PokerStars Sunday Kickoff where he finished in third place. Toby “JobyToyce” Joyce also won big, triumphing in the PokerStars.fr FCOOP 2-Day event and banking $28,289.

Not to be left out, former Ireland number one Kevin Killeen took down the PokerStars $215 Bounty Builder for $16,195, which pushed him up once place to third in Ireland.

Daniel Tighe enjoyed two third place finishes at PokerStars. The first was in the Big $215 and netted him $5,659 with the second being in the $109 NLHE Turbo for $1,107.

“myleftfoot” was another Irish winner on the France-facing PokerStars, winning the Monday Night on Stars for the equivalent of $4,862, while “Kursplunk” won the Hot €30 there for $1,283.

Rounding out the rankings update for this week is the runner-up finish in the Hot $55 for “pokerniall” which netted the Dubliner $5,337.
